Summary

“Colossians 3:9-10” is a mostly functional chapter that moves various pieces into place for coming episodes.

This recap of Warrior Nun season 2, episode 2, “Colossians 3:9-10”, contains spoilers.

“Colossians 3:8-10” picks up right where Warrior Nun season 2, episode 1 left off, with Lilith screaming in a pile of mutilated bodies, but it doesn’t stay there for long. Instead, it shifts focus back to Switzerland, where we begin to get a sense of what Adriel might be up to, if not necessarily to what end.

Warrior Nun season 2, episode 2 recap

So, Ava, Beatrice, and Miguel follow the FBC dorks from their meeting to a field in the middle of nowhere, where they erect a giant cross and summon a horde of locusts. This, combined with the previous mention of a boil-based plague that Adriel had quickly become famed for magically curing, suggests that he is evoking the Biblical plagues. But why? Well, that’s the mystery for now, and it’s important that Ava and Beatrice keep up their training before they’re forced to intervene, as well as keep their identities secret from Miguel so he doesn’t blow their cover.

Meanwhile, Camila and Mother Superior arrive in Madrid to investigate the sole OCS outpost that was showing signs of life, but when they eventually find the chapter hidden in the back of a flower shop, they nonetheless find all the nuns dead. Yasmine is there, though, having used the signal to summon them. She still claims to have discovered the OCS through doctorate research, but there’s clearly more to it than that. However, she’s sworn to only reveal her true purpose to one person — the warrior nun.

Of course, the warrior nun is currently in Switzerland refusing to listen to Beatrice. Her next ill-advised idea is for the two of them to accompany Miguel to interrogate a captured FBC informant, which is presumably crossing a few legal and moral lines, but Ava is determined. Naturally, this all goes wrong when the prisoner, who is infected by a wraith demon, escapes from captivity and Ava is forced to reveal her powers to fight it off. With their covers blown, Ava and Beatrice hustle out of there double-time, but the damage has already been done.

Ava is due to be connected back to the main plot sooner rather than later, anyway, since according to Yasmine, she has had a mission since birth to deliver the current Halo-Bearer some very specific info about how to take down Adriel, who makes his presence felt even more strongly in this episode by appearing in person. In Madrid, he performs a “miracle” by killing the plague of locusts that was summoned on his behalf — which is televised — and then presents himself to Duretti to propose a partnership. Since he used to reside in the Vatican anyway, he sees it as simply returning home, and since the Catholic Church was built on his power in his absence, well… the Pope owes him a favor.

The OCS are all summoned to Madrid via a secret message transmitted to their pendants which is designed to bring them together in times of extreme crisis. But Lilith, upon receiving it, sends another message — “We’ve lost Mary.” The nuns are all united in their grief as we cut to them in various locations mourning Mary after receiving the news; Camila falling to her knees in Mother Superion’s embrace, Ava and Beatrice hugging after an argument. But the good guys are getting together, at least.

Adriel sends Vincent to answer the call too.
