Troll is a Norwegian monster film that just premiered on Netflix. Written by Espen Aukanand and Roar Uthaug, the feature borrows elements from Norse folklore and tropes specific to the genre to give life to a destructive monster that could easily compete with the likes of King Kong and Godzilla. Critics were mostly kind to this newest offering from Norway, and its current IMDB score of 6.8/10 reflects that audiences have also been enjoying it. In the final scene, two of the main characters asked themselves whether more mystical creatures are hiding in the country’s mountainous terrain, leaving the door wide open for a Troll 2 (no, not that Troll 2). So the question begs: How likely is the second installment of Uthaug’s monster epic?
Troll sequel potential release date
When asked about the potential for a sequel, producer Kristian Strand Sinkerud stated, “Of course, we have ambitions to make a sequel and perhaps two sequels, but it all depends on how the audience are responding to Troll.” Considering how the initial audience response is more on the positive side, we could hazard a guess that a second installment is not beyond the realm of possibility. In terms of timing, it’s hard to say. This action-packed flick wasn’t exactly filmed on a small budget, and movies of this caliber usually take some time to make. So, we’re probably looking at a couple of years, at least, until we get to see another Scandinavian troll flattening quaint little houses.
Troll sequel cast – who might be in it?
Apart from Gard B. Eidsvold’s character, Tobias, who met his end at the hands of the Troll King, we’d love to see all core cast members reprising their roles. Ine Marie Wilmann, Kim Falck, and Mads Sjøgård Pettersen could return as Nora, Andreas, and Kris, respectively. We’d also like to see Anneke von der Lippe back as the tough but fair Prime Minister, Dennis Storhøi as the army general, and, of course, Karoline Viktoria Sletteng Garvang as the Star Trek-loving Sigrid.
Troll sequel plot: what could Troll 2 be about?
The second movie could start with a group of explorers trying to unearth more mythical trolls. By accident, the group awakens another creature, but this particular one is larger and more dangerous than the first. The government, still led by the same Prime Minister from the first movie, summons the only people who successfully defeated the monster: Nora and Andreas (who are getting ready for their wedding.) The two quickly reunite with Kris (who has left the Army since the events of the first film and is now leading a quiet life in the countryside), and the three set out on a mission to once again save their country. Yet, the challenge they face this time is much more complex than the first as the new creature seems to have evolved and doesn’t share light sensitivity with other troll. Actually, this new monster seems acutely aware of what happened to the Troll King and is determined to seek revenge on those that harmed him.

I would love to see a sequel to the Troll movie 2022 on Netflix. I’m thankfully that there was a English version. I some how seem to pick movies from different countries. Which is fine as long as there’s an option for me to understand. It gives me other interesting movies to watch even if it’s not actually in English. Thank you! Can’t wait to see a next sequel!

I would love to see a second part but it would be awesome if yes they find a bigger more dangerous troll but also when the military tries to defeat them that like a little kinda troll Familie or army come out of the ground create a lot of Havick and that the trolls take back what is there’s having people evacuate meaning it leaves a bit for a part 3 where the trolls could have built their own home underground with tall castle like structures and bigger Bader trolls roaming around as a suggestion
Absolutely, loved this movie. Kept interest and enjoyed the light-hearted moments. Kept in tune with
monster movies that you may not necessarily believe can be real, but YET one can never be sure.
It also made you feel for the troll and society’s reaction to it’s presence (with the need to destroy before understanding).
Reminiscent of people’s reaction to things that they do not try to understand or tolerate.
Sometimes I think people think we own this world, when all life usually is here for only an unknown amount of time.
This movie was amazingly good great made i love folklore and stories so i would love to see 2 more sequel’s of troll. <3

Totally believe there should be a second film to trolls netflix film. I really loved it how it was everything you could want in a movie these days. I always seem to find films that I love in different languages so I love that netflix had it in english. It was one of the best movies that I’ve watched this year. Great job, please please please make another.

I was very impressed!! Reminding me a little of Jurassic Park but had some nice twists. Great special effects and good storyline. I really hope a sequel is in the works…
A sequel to this film should absolutely be done.
It was an extremely refreshing change of pace from the recent American Cinema and how dumbed down it has become. The sheer emotions evoked as well as the intellectually stimulating philosophical dichotomy proposed in the subtext is above par. Maybe don’t kill the innocent and apparently benevolent troll in the next film but please make it.
Please make a sequel, it would great if the trolls have a happy ending and end up living amongst humans but left alone in the mountains.

But this time they should be two different stories you can choose from.. you can choose from the story her father was telling her in the beginning about the 20 trolls sitting in a circle.. or u can also go off that the prince that escape the first one met a girl troll n she was pregnant n sleeping in the tunnel with his first born n that’s why he was heading away from them so they can stop digging…. Or that there are other family trolls that went into hiding when their king n the royal family got tricked into the cave by humans.. or u can tell a prequel n show how trolls n humans lived in harmony but a greedy human king did not want to live with trolls anymore… there are many ways to take this:

They mentioned that there are actually two trolls in Dovre. The king and one child. And seeing all those skulls below the castle ….. I doubt it was the king we saw.
I think it was the children for the following “reason”. When they showed the bones below the castle were the king used to live the “baby” skulls are fitting the hand size of the queen. And the skulls they used on the truck also fitted the hand size of the troll. And Sinding also mentioned one of the children was used to lure the king to Dovre.
So I doubt that the king of trolls would be the same size as the queen as he had to defend his position which in real life animal kingdom is in the end the biggest and strongest male of his kind.
Keeping this in mind I think if there is hopefully a sequel which takes the second troll from Dovre it will be a bigger, more angrier troll. And to keep it a little more intresting maybe they say “Well. This one lived so long he is immune to sunlight. God luck finding something to kill or keep him in check”

This was a superb horror/fantasy folklore…Hats off to the international production team !!! Just Imagine if the trolls that little Nora vision at Troll Peak were actually awakened, that would be awesome…Although there is one more confirmed troll inside Douvre Mountain(Rikard Sinding spoke of).. the last of the Troll Kings children, most likely the one awakened during end credits
YES YES & YES PLEASE!!!! My husband and I loved it so much and would absolutely love to see MULTIPLE sequels. The amazing effects of the movie , the storyline and the beautiful countryside definitely made it so worth watching. Hopefully there will be lots of action like the first movie and also hope to laugh, cry, feel love, feeling of sadness but with a happy ending for Andres, Kris and Nora.
