The penultimate episode of season two, titled “Boardroom Politics,” lays out the Russians’ plans in more detail as the action ramps up, heading toward the show’s finale. Pashkin (Alec Utgoff) stirs up trouble in the boardroom meeting while the Russian agents in Upshott reveal their terrorist attack schemes to River (Jack Lowden). It’s an action-packed episode, full of tension and fast-moving momentum. Here’s what happened in season two, episode five of Slow Horses:
- River is left tied up in the Flying Club offices as the Russians prepare their final part of the plan. Alex is to fly a plane full of explosives into the Glass House in London, killing thousands at the march.
- Lamb looks through Nikolai’s records back at the Park. The defector may have been more important than they originally thought, playing an intricate part in the plan.
- Marcus and Louisa frisk the Russians before the meeting with Webb. Pashkin’s men swap cases in secret. Webb embarrasses himself at the meeting, trying to appear cocky and personable. Pashkin grows tired of him and teases Webb about his cheap suit.
- Diana escorts Judd to the speech. Judd wants Diana to back him for Prime Minister. At the speech, Judd taunts the crowds that boo him.
- Leo (Andre Chernitsky) drives into London with a weapon. Roddy and Shirley track the agent and decide to go in on foot to help defuse another threat. Shirley spots Leo running down to the train station.
- Standish meets with Victor Krymov and plays the Russian at chess. If she wins, Victor answers some questions. If she loses, Standish drinks some Vodka.
- River manages to answer a phone call meant for Alex. He coaxes Alex’s family to the Flying Club. They cannot believe that Alex is a Russian sleeper agent, but the evidence is laid out for them. Duncan slowly comes around to the idea and frees River. River phones MI5 about the bomb threat. He confirms it with Diana.
- Diana tells Judd and MI5. London is placed in full lockdown, and the protesters are evacuated.
- Standish warns Lamb, Nikolai wants the Slough House boss. He realizes that he’s been framed.
- Alarms blare at the Pashkin meeting, and the Russian pulls a gun on Webb. Louisa explains that Pashkin is a fraud and Nevsky is dead. Webb argues with Pashkin, who shoots him. Marcus shoots at the Russians as they flee. One of the Russian security guards is wounded and falls to the ground.

- Roddy and Shirley will chase after Andre down at the train station. Is he planning on assassinating somebody in particular, or does he have other plans?
- Alex will make it into London and MI5 will try to talk her down. She will list her reasons for the terrorist attack and emotionally talk about her family. Unfortunately, they will have to kill Alex to stop her.
- Pashkin and his security guard have their own plans. Are they going to release another bomb inside the building?
- I still don’t trust Webb, he seemed far too cocky at the meeting. Is he working for the Russians? Louisa and Marcus will find out what secrets Webb is hiding.
