“Imposter Syndrome” is defined as a feeling of inadequacy and self-doubt, with the subject believing they are frauds who don’t deserve their successes or happiness. In episode six, most of our lovable cast are feeling this way. Jimmy (Jason Segel) worries his marriage wasn’t as impressive as everyone remembers it, Gaby (Jessica Williams) struggles to move on from her divorce, and Paul (Harrison Ford) feels guilty about his estranged relationship with his daughter. It’s another hilarious and eventful installment. Here’s what happened in episode six of Shrinking Season 1 Episode 6:
- Sean continues to open up to Jimmy, revealing that he has traumatic flashbacks to his time overseas. Jimmy tries to comfort his friend and patient. Paul admits that he has told Meg about his Parkinson’s disease, and she is heading over next week to help her father.
- Gaby struggles to connect with her new dates and tells Liz about her numbness in the bedroom.
- Liz gifts Paul some druggy sweets to help with his Parkinson’s.
- Brian tells Jimmy and Gaby that he has bought an engagement ring and wants to propose to Charlie at a party, preferably at Jimmy’s house. Alice convinces Jimmy to accept the arrangement. Brian plans to sing to Charlie while Jimmy plays the piano.
- At the party, Liz and Derek are unfashionably early. Alice dresses up for the occasion and convinces Sean to attend, even though he is worried people will bring up his past.
- Paul arrives drugged up and out of it, worried about the situation with Meg.
- Jimmy gets drunk as all the guests talk about Tia and his perfect marriage. Gaby has to deal with people talking about her ex as well.
- Jimmy confesses to Gaby that he is having marriage problems with Tia. He believed she didn’t love him anymore near the end and was planning to leave him. Gaby disagrees. He asks her to prove him wrong.
- Jimmy embarrasses Alice, and she storms off. Sean comforts her, and she tries to kiss him. Sean rejects her.
- Charlie arrives. Brian sings, but Jimmy is drunk now, and he joins in too. Next, Jimmy vomits everywhere, killing the mood. Brian tells Charlie the truth, and he says yes anyway; they are engaged.
- Gaby checks up on Jimmy, who has taken a shower. She shows him a photo of Tia from 2 weeks before she died. In the photo, Tia looks very much in love. Jimmy thanks Gaby, and they passionately kiss.

- With a title like “Apology Tour,” it looks like Jimmy has much to apologize for. He has upset Alice with his drunken behavior and ruined Brian’s proposal. That’s on top of making out with his dead wife’s best friend too. Will Jimmy and Gaby call it off as a big mistake, or will they continue to grow their romantic relationship together?
- Alice tries to kiss Sean and is rejected; she will also apologize. It’s awkward, but Sean has done the right thing. They will hopefully stay friends.
- Paul tries to rebuild his relationship with Meg, and the two bond during her short stay.
- Gaby fears she has made a terrible mistake kissing Jimmy. She’ll confess to Liz, who will relish in this gossip.
