Summary
The first three episodes of Bel-Air do a great job setting out the stakes for us to watch everything unravel throughout the season.
We recap the Peacock series Bel-Air Season 2 Episode 3, which contains spoilers.
The first two episodes of Bel-Air Season 2 set up some storylines with Will (Jabari Banks), Doc (Brooklyn McLinn), and Phil (Adrian Holmes), which I believe will come to a head soon. With Will trying to reach the next level, will Phil stand in his way to be the protective Uncle, or will Doc get in Will’s head, causing a war between Phil and Will?
Bel-Air Season 2 Episode 3 recap
Bel-Air Academy is one win away from making the playoffs, and Coach tells them they need to win as a team. Then, Will calls out Todd for not being his wingman, but Will apologizes and says he will put the team at the front and not himself. Next, we see the teacher that caused concern about Carlton and his team’s protest, but he calls her out for any alternative motives. However, we hear her mention Carlton’s name coming up for the Founders Award. She tells him she needs him to shut down the protest.
Ashley is a little upset because she feels responsible for firing Ms. Hughes. Vivian tries to make her feel better about the situation, saying the protest should help. Will is trying to get Carlton motivated to talk to Yazmin. Then, Phil pulls Will aside to speak to him about looking out for Carlton now that he is waning off his meds.
Next, Will confronts Phil about Doc and if he looked over everything about him. Phil says he wants him to be cautious about Doc and isn’t right about where he is. While this is happening, Carlton and Yazmin are together writing his speech. As the two are about to kiss, Hilary accidentally interrupts them.
Hilary meets with an advertiser, and while everything goes well, she realizes they want Ivy because of her social media reach. So Hilary heads to meet with Ivy to discuss her business meeting. She pushes her off to meet her later. Later that day, Ivy shows up late to the meeting and tells Hilary that she won’t endorse the brand. Sadly, Ivy shuts the entire thing down.
How does the school react to the potential protest?
At school, an email states that anyone participating in the walkout will not only be suspended but not allowed to partake in any extracurricular activities. Regardless of this happening, everyone still is in to protest, and Carlton is struggling with everything due to Ms. Bassett putting doubts and big dreams in his head.
Everyone agrees to protest, but Yazmin and Carlton are off to meet with the Dean. The meeting ends well, but they agree to be silenced, which upsets Will. Finally, Yazmin and Will tell Carlton they will do it anyway, and now he is freaking out again.
Why is Carlton unable to do the speech at the protest?
The walkout begins with Carlton leading the way. However, things start to get a little crazy outside with the school taking the banners, and everyone begins to pressure Carlton to deliver his speech. As the pressure starts to mount, Carlton has an anxiety attack and is unable to give the speech. Finally, Will comes to calm him down and says he got him.
Bel-Air Season 2 Episode 3 Ending Explained
As Carlton’s anxiety gets the best of him, we see Will steal the signs from the school attendant and bolt upstairs to the roof. While this is happening, Carlton and Yazmin make eye contact, and you can see the disappointment in her eyes.
As everyone starts to head back into the school as they think the protest is over, Kirk points out that Will is at the top of the school. On the roof, Will unravels the big sign it says “Black Teachers Matter.” Everyone in the school goes nuts (including an on-looking Ashley watching a feed of the protest on her phone), and a chant is started, “Black Teacher Matter.” The episode closes with a distraught Carlton looking on as Will gets all the glory.
