Summary

“The Day of The Girls” offers an exciting glimpse of revolution. This leads to some powerful moments, as well as some cornier ones too. Overall though, this is a thrilling installment that suggests more explosive action is still to come.

We recap the Prime Video series The Power Season 1 Episode 4, “The Day of The Girls,” which contains spoilers.

The world’s governments are shocked after news has spread of these new electrical powers in girls and new organs found in female bodies. As the countries fight back, this suppression leads to further revolution and liberation.

Tunde (Toheeb Jimoh) follows one such revolution in Saudi Arabia, while Allie (Halle Bush) builds confidence in her abilities and spurs on others at the convent. This installment also brings us back to Roxy’s (Ria Zmitrowicz) storyline in London as she struggles to grieve her mother’s passing.

The Power Season 1 Episode 4 Recap

“The Day of The Girls” begins in Saudi Arabia, a country that has just banned the use of the power. Tunde follows the story here, hoping to capitalize on the growing tensions in this Arab nation. Tunde finds out about a girl called Amal, who has been beaten for using her powers. He heads straight into the fray, watching as crowds protest this injustice.

What does Tunde see in Saudi Arabia?

Tunde films the protests as females of all ages fight back against the police. They electrocute officers, causing them to retreat in fright. The women march, gathering a huge following at a rapid pace. Tunde films all of this, witnessing the beginnings of a revolution.

The women fight the police, but the authoritarians shoot back, killing many females along the way.

The protests continue to build momentum, leading to a military stand-off. The women destroy a tank, and the police fire back. One mother notices her son shooting and manages to end the violence with a few inspired words.

Tunde returns to his hotel room after capturing all of this historic footage. He notices that his room has been raided and is now warned that he is on a no-fly list. Tunde is then driven to the border to avoid capture.

In Allie’s storyline, the convent girls watch TV together. An infomercial explains the science behind their powers. The ability has been called Electric Organ Discharge (EOD). The organ is now called the skein, which stretches across the collarbone.

The voice in Allie’s head urges her to try out her new abilities to see what else she can achieve.

What can Allie do with her powers?

Allie tests out her skills, managing to manipulate and control a chicken, just like the electric eels do with their prey. Sister Veronica spots Allie killing a chicken with her powers.

She tells Sister Maria about Allie’s abilities; she doesn’t trust her. But Maria thinks Allie could be a leader. She is special, almost God-like, with her abilities.

Spurred on by this, Allie brings a dead bird back to life and then stops a girl from fitting. Veronica tells her to leave the convent immediately after using her powers, but the other girls’ side with Allie instead. It feels like the origins of their own revolution.

The Power Season 1 Episode 4 Ending Explained

Elsewhere, in rainy London, Roxy goes clubbing with her three half-brothers. Roxy gets extremely drunk and mentions missing her mum. Terry offers her drugs instead of comforting words to help her numb her pain.

Re-energized by the drugs, Roxy talks about killing her mother’s remaining killer. Bernie has had one of them killed, but the other is still alive at large. Terry naively gives Roxy the man’s name and address.

Does Roxy get her revenge?

Roxy drives over to the killer’s house with all three brothers’ support. She confronts the murderer outside his home. He denies killing Roxy’s mother and punches her in the face. This assault helps Roxy unleash her pent-up powers, and she kills the man in style, finally getting her revenge and some form of justice.

The Monke family is then shot at in retaliation. Terry is shot in the action, bleeding out in the back seat. Roxy drives him back to her father’s home, distraught that her selfish actions have led to his possible death.
