Summary
While this episode wasn’t filled with much action or drama, it was necessary to acquire materials. It feels like these first few episodes are all about building up more exciting things later.
We recap the Crunchyroll anime series Dr. Stone Season 3 Episode 2, “Greed Equals Justice,” which contains spoilers.
Senku (Yusuke Kobayashi) and his friends hit the ground running in last week’s season premiere of Dr. Stone.
While they were still on a mission to secure oil and build their ship, Ryusui realized they would not make it far without the ability to grow their food, so Senku introduced the residents of Ishigami Village to the concept of agriculture.
It was a significant step in the right direction for the villagers and the civilization. However, they now face a new dilemma – finding someone to turn their crops into food.
Dr. Stone Season 3 Episode 2 Recap
The episode opens with Ryusui refusing to give up on his desire to awaken a chef, despite the fact they are out of revival fluid. While Senku says it could take months to get more nitric acid, Ryusui thinks he may know someone who still has some.
Using the cell phone, Ryusui calls Minami to see if she still has a secret stash of revival fluid. Although she pretends not to at first, Gen convinces her that Senku will give her a gift in exchange for some of her revival fluid.
Who does Ryusui want to wake up with the revival fluid?
Knowing that they are in desperate need of a chef, Ryusui suggests they use the revival fluid to wake up a cook named Francois.
Not only can they cook, but they were also Ryusui’s butler before the petrification, making them well-rounded in hospitality too.
What was Minami promised in exchange for the revival fluid?
With Francois awake and cooking, Minami complains that she still hasn’t received what she was promised. In exchange for her stash of revival fluid, Gen said that Senku was capable of making a camera.
To do so, he would first have to make a mirror which could later be used as film.
How does Kaseki get back to Senku?
In order to craft a mirror, Senku says he needs the help of the craftsman, Kaseki. Considering his age, they do not want him traveling on foot, but he declines when Taiju offers to carry him.
Instead, Kaseki and Minami drive to Senku using a newly improved Steam Gorilla II that he managed to get back into working order.
Senku ends up making multiple cameras to take into the hot air balloon for taking pictures and surveying the land.
Dr. Stone Season 3 Episode 2 Ending Explained
Despite Senku making so many cameras, Minami still wants to take the first picture in their new world. She takes pictures of Senku before he and Ryusui take off in the hot air balloon to survey the land.
Although it didn’t feel like many thrilling or exciting things happened, this was still a good episode of Dr. Stone. So much of the series is based on science and adventure, so even in episodes where it doesn’t feel like much is going on, there’s usually a much bigger play at work.
Almost everything that happens in this series is usually part of a bigger storyline later on, so it’s only a matter of time before things get going.
This episode gave us a chance to learn more about characters like Minami and Francois, which I like because it means that they’re not leaving people in the background. The majority of the characters that have been introduced so far play essential roles, which makes them easy to remember.
Which each new player and invention, it feels like we’re getting closer to starting our sea voyage, and I predict that’s where things will get especially exciting.
