In a press conference for Queen Charlotte, showrunner Shonda Rhimes stated that the young Violet is 12 years old in scenes set in the past, so that would make her 68 in 1817.

Who plays Violet in Bridgerton?

The part of Violet is played by Ruth Gemmell, a well-known face on British television. Ruth was born in 1967 and hailed from County Durham in the UK.

In 1995, she would marry the actor Ray Stevenson, who she met on the set of the UK crime drama Band of Gold. They would make it to 2005 before the couple divorced.

Ruth had a feature film debut in the football-based movie Fever PitchThis adaptation of the book by Nick Hornby would be quite successful, and Ruth was in the lead role.

After the film, she would secure solid supporting roles in TV and film.

Ruth would be recognized from such shows as Doc Martin, Eastenders, Penny Dreadful, and Primeval.
