This recap of the Netflix K-Drama series Doctor Cha Season 1 Episode 8 contains spoilers.

With a huge focus on In-ho’s infidelity, the halfway point in Doctor Cha is marked with plenty of resonance amidst the usual comedy. From here on out, it will be exciting to see how this all explodes, particularly as Jeong-suk is now firmly aware her husband is a cheater too.

Doctor Cha Season 1 Episode 8 Recap

What is the aftermath with Seon-gyu?

Picking up where we left off, gossip of a “love triangle” involving Jeong-suk begins to spread, and In-ho attempts to get Roy Kim to halt the caring acts towards his wife. Concurrently, So-ra is reminded the blame for Seon-gyu’s suicide attempt falls on everyone, given there were clear warning signs there.

Once Jeong-suk tries to show Seon-gyu how “beautiful” life is, the patient appears to regain composure. So much so, he can assure his concerned wife he is “really ok now.” Later, In-ho hears Jeong-suk is “envious” of the strength of Seon-gyu’s marital love, before the professor slips up on the details of a trip to Aewol he never actually went on with his wife when she proposes another Jeju jaunt.

What happens when I-rang finds out about In-ho’s affair?

As I-rang tells Jeong-suk that Eun-seo’s parents are supposedly divorced, the first-year resident becomes increasingly concerned about potential deception. Elsewhere, Seung-hi encourages In-ho to meet their daughter to celebrate her art award achievement, something he duly follows up on.

In a shocking turn of events, Eun-seo cynically uses this meeting with her father to expose In-ho’s affair directly to a crushed I-rang, paying her half-sister back for “annoyance” she has felt towards their dad and his regular family. In time, a frustrated Ae-sim is told all about her son’s infidelity back at home.

When pleading with I-rang to not tell Jeong-suk about his affair – she had already planned to keep it a secret – In-ho reluctantly agrees to support his daughter’s art school ambitions. However, the professor may have another thing to worry about, given Jung-min saw Seung-hi text his father a meeting place, then decided to discreetly turn up there himself.

Next, I-rang stands up to Eun-seo’s threats of taking her exposé further by reminding her she’s a “cheating couple’s daughter.” Meanwhile, Jung-min struggles at work, distracted by thoughts of the sights he saw of Seung-hi embracing In-ho.

How does Jung-min react to his dad’s infidelity?

Later, Jung-min challenges his dad and has the affair confirmed to him. So, in response, In-ho is bluntly told his son no longer holds respect for him, and is “disappointed.” Yet still amidst all of this, nobody wants to tell Jeong-suk.

Responding to Internet claims of girlfriend abandonment, Seo Min-jun pays Gusan University Hospital a visit, wanting to tell Ji-sun he is willing to be accountable for raising their child. However, the patient insists it’s not his baby, but rather her ex-boyfriend’s.

Awkwardly, Jeong-suk’s family thinks of ways to maintain the secrecy of In-ho’s affair, especially considering it resulted in the birth of Eun-seo. Following this, Jung-min gives his dad an ultimatum: when his mother’s residency is completed, In-ho can either choose Seung-hi, or his mother. Elsewhere, Jeong-suk gets her fortune read and is warned to “be careful” around men pursuing her.

As Roy Kim insists on making his own mind up on whether he’ll expose In-ho’s affair, Ae-sim makes plans to take Jeong-suk and the whole family to a hotel for her birthday, hoping that special treatment will help her feel good (and potentially throw her off any bad scents). Then, the elder ensures Deok-rye isn’t privy to any information about her son-in-law’s adulterous actions.

Doctor Cha Season 1 Episode 8 Ending Explained

Although she stops Roy Kim from telling her about her husband’s affair (due to believing he is going to confess), Jeong-suk soon sees through Seung-hi’s social media signs which point toward her adulterous relationship with In-ho. Thus, once further inspection is completed, the first-year resident is left distraught on her birthday.

When finished sternly insisting she will be displaced to the family medicine department (where Seung-hi is head) next, Jeong-suk heads to the hotel for her birthday meal. With a celebratory mood non-existent, the episode ends with the potential for things to get worse as In-ho’s mistress contemplates whether to gatecrash proceedings.
