Where was Missing: Dead or Alive on Netflix filmed

Where was Missing: Dead or Alive on Netflix filmed? We discuss the highly debated true crime series and its filming locations.

The four-part limited Netflix series Missing: Dead or Alive? has dropped, and true crime fans are settling in to watch a team of world-weary investigators giving their all to solve four missing person cases and the mysteries surrounding them.

As well as providing us with the sometimes harrowing circumstances of the missing people, the show also offers a fly-on-the-wall look at the officers involved in the situations.

There’s plenty of staring into the middle distance, and incidental music, punctuating the inner thoughts of those involved. The narratives often end in a cliffhanger ending, encouraging people to keep watching, and the show is receiving mixed reviews.

However, we are putting on our white gloves and treading into the area of the filming location to answer you, gentle reader, the answer to the question, where was Missing: Dead or Alive filmed, and where is the investigators’ favorite cake shop?

Where was Missing: Dead or Alive on Netflix filmed – a breakdown of filming locations

Columbia, South Carolina

The series is a documentary and not a dramatization of real events, so the production crew would film in the areas where the investigations take place. The cases would all be from around South Carolina, so that many real locations would be in this area.

There were many locations used in the making of the program, and it would be impossible to track them all down, but we have managed to list some of the locales that you see in the filming of the show.

Many locations are not specified, probably to protect the people involved in the show, so instead, we get lots of drone shots of bridges and scenes of cars driving down streets that are unspecified and probably also some stock footage, so specifics here are going to be difficult, but we will let you know what we find below.

All four episodes would be filmed around Columbia, South Carolina.

The Richmond County Sheriff’s Department

The department can be found at 5623 Two Notch Road, Columbia, SC 29223.

Prisma Health Hospital Richland, Columbia, South Carolina

In the first episode, this is the location where Lorraine Garcia disappears from. The hospital is one of the first hospitals in the city, built in 1892. It can be found at  5 Richland Medical Park Drive, Columbia, SC 29203.

Richland County, South Carolina

In episode two, young Amirah Watson and her mother go missing. The mother, Tynesha Brooks, lived in Richland County, and scenes would be filmed in and around here.

Broad River Exit Interstate I – 20.

In episode three of the series, we open with a shot of the highway where the unfortunate David Taylor’s truck is found at the side of the road. It may be Interstate I -20, where David was seen crossing the lanes of traffic on foot.

David lived in the Barnwell area and would drive all around looking to cash in his winning lottery ticket.

David’s truck seems to take the Broad River Exit, where it would be found.

The team would investigate the wooded area across the freeway where David was seen entering, and filming would take place throughout the area.

CVS Columbia Pharmacy

The team head here looking for David, and filming takes place outside with a drone shot and inside the business, where they check the security footage.

Fairfield Rd Winnsboro

In episode four, the search is on for the missing Sierra Stevens, who lived in Richland County. A shot of Fairfield Rd and Winnsboro turns off in the episode as the investigators search for Sierra.

Shots of a truck stop are also used while the team search.

Lita’s Treats

Investigator Vicky pops into this location at 800 Lake Murray Blvd. Suite G Irmo, in Soutch Carolina. The cupcakes look good. Ten are purchased in total, including carrot cake muffins.
