Summary
“I’m Getting Close to This Guru Bastard” is the episode I’ve been waiting for to hook me into the story. The writers up the ante with some drama that will be fun to watch unfold.

We are two episodes into the premiere of High Desert, and Peggy (Patricia Arquette) is on the verge of making things happen for herself with her wheeling and dealing with her new boss Bruce (Brad Garrett).
However, between Guru Bob (Rupert Friend) sinking his teeth in her and her ex-husband arriving, Peggy is in for a whirlwind of events.
High Desert Season 1 Episode 3 Recap
The episode begins with Guru Bob running into the emergency room, asking them to save his nipple, which is in his hands after being cut off by the people after him. It’s also picking up where we left with Peggy’s car wrecked underneath a truck.
After escaping that situation, she arrives home to her sister, showing off her mother’s house to a praiser she chases off. Peggy tells her sister about her new job and begs her to deposit money in her account for a new car, which she agrees to do.
What details did Carol find out about Guru Bob?
His wife went missing. He claimed he left and went to Mexico, but the family never bought it, and there was a 70 thousand dollar reward. Carol and Peggy both think Bob killed her. The duo feels that they might have a shot at claiming the reward money.
Peggy tells Bruce about Guru Bob’s wife, but he already knows the details. He said she left a note, drained a bank account, and the car was found in Mexico.
For some reason, Peggy took the news as a good thing and is excited to try and get the reward money. Carol tells her that she has also seen Peggy’s mom at the bus stop. Peggy freaks out and speeds to chase the bus down.
What happens when Peggy confronts the woman on the bus?
After she gets on the bus, she meets with this woman, who might be her mom, only to realize it is someone else. She’s an actress from New York who is in town. Before she gets off the bus, Peggy gets her phone number and says that she knows people and that her career as an actress isn’t over by a long shot.
Carol tells her that she should make this a play and how she could write it to work through her stuff. Peggy gets a call from the hospital, which says that Bob wasn’t providing any information about himself other than having her number on his arm.
So Peggy picks him up from the hospital and is able to get him home. He tells her that she owes him three grand for what he did to Tammy and forces him to sign a check for four grand while he is all drugged up.
Owen attempts to cash the check Peggy gave her and ends up going to jail for cashing a stolen check. She comes to bail him out of jail and apologizes, saying she will make up the money to give to him. She storms to Guru Bob’s house to tell him he must drop the charges.
However, he has other plans making her go out to dinner with him. The two come to terms on a deal. She sells his painting, and in return, she gets 20%, with four grand up front that he owes Tammy, and if the check doesn’t clear, she’s taking out his other nipple.
High Desert Season 1 Episode 3 Ending Explained
While things are starting to look up for their partnership, the duo who need their money from Guru Bob show up. Also, Dianne calls Peggy to tell her that Denny is out of jail and is pounding on the door. Peggy tells her sister to get out of the house and Denny to go with her.
Guru Bob asks, “Who is Denny?” Peggy replies, “My f*****g husband.” Upon her return home, Denny is in the house and says early release as the episode ends.
