Summary
The series finally let’s loose a little and finds time for some fun. There is action and revelations in “Bethesda” as the investigation unveils a conspiracy of lies and cover-up. The series still relies on needless subplots, although the overarching narrative is starting to fall into place now.
We recap the Prime Video series Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Season 4 Episode 4, “Bethesda,” which contains spoilers.
“Bethesda” takes Jack Ryan (John Krasinski) and his gang to Croatia as they track down their asset Chao Fah (Louis Ozawa), at a criminal marketplace.
Elsewhere, James Greer (Wendell Pierce) delves deeper into Walters and his shell company front while Chao tries to keep himself safe within the Triad organization.
Jack Ryan Season 4 Episode 4 Recap
Jack Ryan, Mike November, and Domingo Chavez travel to the beautiful Croatian city of Dubrovnik. Here they intend on finding Chao and utilizing his wealth of knowledge to take down the Triad.
Mike’s contact, Katarina, explains Olafsky’s marketplace where Chao is headed. They will need help getting into this criminal party.
Who is Zubkov?
The trio infiltrates a swanky yacht, looking for an old CIA asset of theirs for help. This asset is called Zubkov. He refuses to help them, but Chavez is rather persuasive with a knife. Later, Katarina updates them on the marketplace; there is a deal going down between the Croatians and the Triad.
They survey Olafsky’s home from afar; this is where the marketplace will be hosted. Zubkov suggests breaking in via a system of tunnels and caves underneath the building.
Back in Washington DC, James and Patrick investigate the possible assassin, Walters. Paperwork leads them to a shell company under the name of Dominic Sanderson.

James pays Dominic a visit but learns that he is only a young man who is in a coma.
Walters follows James’ every move and attacks him on a bridge, causing a car crash. He then stabs James in front of the gathering crowd. James runs away from his attacker and jumps off the bridge to safety.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth is hounded by the senators and told to distance herself from Jack Ryan. And in Myanmar, Chao is sent to Geneva. Tin Tun is ordered to take over Chao’s responsibilities in Croatia in his place.
The Triad has heard Chao’s story about Soe Wai being a mole but makes the swap regardless.
It is later revealed why Chao was sent to Geneva. He meets with fundraiser Zeyara, who is actually in partnership with the Triad. Cathy has been working with Zeyara under the impression that she is a thoughtful philanthropist, but this is all just an act. She’s actually one of the bad guys.
Why is Chao sent to Geneva?
Zeyara wants Chao in Geneva so he can work alongside her in shaping and improving networks within the Triad. She also informs Chao that when he returns to Myanmar, he will be put in charge of all operations there. The man who wanted out has just received a promotion within the organization.
Back at Olafsky’s marketplace, Zubkov helps Mike enter the party seamlessly.
Meanwhile, Chavez and Jack enter from below. They hide on Katarina’s yacht and then ambush the armed guards. Chavez and Jack then make their way through the tunnels to the party upstairs, tackling guards along the way.

The party includes the selling of drugs, weaponry, and females too. Mike spies Tin Tun entering the party and assumes that he is Chao Fah. Zubkov and Mike follow the criminal toward his secret business deal.
Mike interrupts their deal and gets into a fight. He is soon detained along with Zubkov.
How do they escape the marketplace?
Arriving a little late to the party, Jack and Chavez shoot their way to this business deal. But Mike has already freed himself and is back in charge. They analyze the device that is being traded, unsure of what it actually is. Mike then shoots the Croatian leader dead. They jump out of the window to escape the armed guards heading their way.
Chavez finds time to snap a photo of himself with the dead leader first, of course. He sends this picture to Chao with the promise that he will be seeing him soon.
Zeyara is worried that the killers will be after her next. The gang manages to evade the guards and escape in Katarina’s boat.
Jack Ryan Season 4 Episode 4 Ending Explained
In Bethesda Hospital, James talks to Patrick about his attacker. He believes that Walters is ex-military. Patrick agrees to take Walters’ blood sample and check the database for this killer’s real identity.
Elizabeth then pays James a visit, eager to know what is going on.
James explains the circumstances surrounding Walters and the convergence. He believes that everything is linked. They need to support Jack as he delves deeper into the Triad. Elizabeth doesn’t want to get involved, though, with her confirmation only three days away.
The episode ends with Jack safe on a yacht with his comrades. They inspect the device further. Mike ponders if it is a bomb. Chavez is then contacted by Chao, who is sending him coordinates. It looks like they have their next lead; they will go after Chao once again.
