Summary
The penultimate episode provides some big (albeit predictable) developments that neatly tee up the finale.
This recap of the Netflix K-Drama See You in My 19th Life Season 1 Episode 11 contains spoilers.
See You in My 19th Life remains a beautifully shot and consistently engaging K-Drama that, despite its best efforts, can’t quite get out from the shadow of King the Land.
This episode is a fine example of why. It delivers revelations aplenty, some much anticipated, and it builds smartly and effectively to a climax that can’t help but feel a little underwhelming in its obviousness.
See You in My 19th Life Season 1 Episode 11 Recap
Through the shaman bells, Ji-eum once again visits her first life.
In that life, she worked for the village chiefs, their leader being Min-ki, Do-yun one of his subordinates, and Seo-ha his bodyguard. Cho-won was Ji-eum’s older sister, Seol.
Why was Ji-eum choking Seo-ha?
In this life, Cho-won/Seol was deathly ill with a malady that science couldn’t fix. The local medicine claimed to be able to provide a certain medicine in exchange for the shaman bells, presently being offered to the gods as a potential salve for crippling drought.
Covertly, Ji-eum stole the bells but was caught. As she and Seol attempted to flee, Min-ki and his soldiers caught them, refused to offer the forgiveness Ji-eum was begging for, and in the ensuing commotion, Seol was mortally wounded, dying in Ji-eum’s arms.
Since Seo-ha was holding the sword, Ji-eum’s anger towards him that prompted her to choke him in Episode 10 is suddenly understandable.
Will Cho-won and Do-yun get together?
Things seem in a little disarray in the present-day. Cho-won realizes through Do-yun’s brother that he loves her in return, but their relationship still seems unviable. Both seem at peace with that but are they, really?
Similarly, Seo-ha is thrown for a loop by the revelation that his father knew what his uncle did and kept the truth from him in order to spare his feelings.

Who killed Cho-won/Seol?
The big revelation of the episode once again concerns Ji-eum’s first life.
When she once again returns to her visions through the shaman bells, she realizes the truth – that Min-ki was the one who killed her sister, and that one of his soldiers shot her in the back with an arrow.
While holding the bells, Ji-eum swears to never forget the moment until she has taken her revenge. It seems as though the depth of her anger cursed her to recall her past lives. But it also seems like Min-ki is able to, somehow, control and change Ji-eum’s memories, which is why is has taken her until now to remember this, and it has taken so many returns to the same vision to finally see the full truth.
Now that she knows the truth, what will Ji-eum do? I guess we’ll see.
