Building on an opening couple of chapters, The Uncanny Counter episode three cemented the threat now facing the Counters this season while adding an intriguing wrinkle regarding Ju-seok. The protagonists are up against it now, which makes what’s to come all the more exciting.
The Uncanny Counter Season 2 Episode 3 Recap
We begin with Pil-gwang and So Mun facing off from each other, both flexing their powers until a tense stalemate is reached. Neither of the two adversaries has their questions about the other answered here, though the Counters now fully realize their new villains must be captured sooner rather than later.
Why is Ju-seok in prison?
As Jeok-bong’s training continues to go nowhere, Ju-seok steals a fire truck to get face time with Seong-uk. Here, the firefighter attempts to kill the conman to avenge his late wife but halts when Mo-tak arrives.
With Ju-seok now in prison for his crimes, So Mun visits, telling his ally about Min-ji’s funeral and attempting to show he “understands” the firefighters want to kill Seong-uk because he once wanted to take revenge on his parent’s killers too.
However, Ju-seok disagrees with the comparison, claiming he only failed to follow through on his intentions due to fear.

Easing the anxiety of the Counters, Jang-mul takes the group to a new, larger hideout. Yet So Mun quickly reminds his teammates of their increased need for training and invites them to fight him. By the end of the session, only Ha-na stands tall.
What happens to Ju-seok in prison?
When Ju-seok ends up in solitary confinement for beating one of his taunting inmates, he decides to commit suicide. But in the process of his hanging, the former firefighter is consumed by an evil spirit masked as his late wife, meaning he pulls through as a new, vengeful man.
What is Jeok-bong’s power?
While interrupting Ha-na’s awkward reunion with Do-hwi (a former classmate turned piano teacher), Jeok-bong discovers his power. As it turns out, the new recruit can smell evil spirits, which the Counters think could be highly valuable in finding those who avoid the territory.
At night, Mo-tak wonders if his retirement is around the corner, believing he is no longer “useful” to his fellow Counters. Mae-ok, hearing this, opts to comfort her deflated colleague.
The Uncanny Counter Season 2 Episode 3 Ending Explained
The next day, with the help of Jeok-bong’s developing powers, the Counters track down Pil-gwang, who had used another evil spirit to lure them toward him. Nevertheless, the heroes had actually split up to track other enemies, meaning only Mae-ok and Jang-mul were left to fend against the superior villain.
Fortunately, So Mun arrives in the nick of time, preventing Pil-gwang from using Mae-ok to kill Jang-mul. To end the episode, the two chief rivals prepare to fight.
