Will there be a Season 2 of the Netflix reality series Down for Love – renewed or canceled status

We discuss whether there will be a Season 2 of the Netflix dating reality series Down for Love and its renewed or canceled status.

Down for Love is a Netflix reality dating show that follows ten people living with Down Syndrome who are looking for love.

Whatever your thoughts are about dating shows, there is no doubt that there is an audience out there that loves this type of content, and while there is an audience, they will always make shows.

It can often feel that we are living in an era where dating has become redundant, as people seem to be more invested in para relationships with online personalities, and now even AI avatars.

If there was ever a time when dating should be celebrated, then it could be now, and this show is certainly a heartwarming and beautifully made series that might serve to reignite your passion for actually interacting with a real human being.

The five-episode season is easy to watch, and the episodes are roughly thirty minutes long, so you could curl up and watch this on the sofa in one sitting. The show follows a dating couple, and we are privy to the journey. We also get input from the family and friends of the dating couple.

The simple approach promotes honesty and openness that can sometimes be missing from other such shows, and it is hard not to be invested in what may be the most real of all reality dating shows.

Family, and a specialist in the area, offer advice and support throughout the series, helping the participants navigate the dates.

You can read a brilliant review of the series right here on Ready Steady Cut, but this article is more interested in the question that everyone who loves this show wants answered: Will there be a Down for Love Season 2?

Yes, there is news that the show has started production. Although the show dropped all its episodes on Netflix on Friday, August 11th, 2023, it had already been released in New Zealand, where it was made, in 2022.

TVNZ, the channel that aired the show in New Zealand, seems to have committed to a second run of the show and last year began looking for new stars to appear in a second block of episodes.

An Instagram post would state

“If you live with Down Syndrome or another intellectual disability and you are looking for the love of your life, want to explore local dating options or learn the tools to woo your future partner – Attitude Pictures would love to hear from you!”

The show was well received in New Zealand and would win an award for best original new series at the New Zealand Television Awards.

The show was made in Consultation with the New Zealand Down Syndrome Association.
