Who plays Koby in Netflix’s One Piece live-action series? We discuss the popular 2023 TV show and one of the key characters.

Beloved property One Piece has been given the Netflix live-action treatment.

This is another attempt to bring a well-loved manga and anime series to life, and if I am honest, I cannot blame fans for being worried about another adaptation that may fall short of expectations and disappoint fans who love the show.

However, at the time of writing, it does seem that a lot of time, effort, and money have gone into this show, and it may have resulted in this live-action remake actually working. Currently, the show has a very impressive 8.5/10 on IMDB (September 4th, 2023).

Staying as close as possible to the original material, pirates searching for a mythical artifact, the exciting and visually stunning show has hit the ground running. Of course, the effects and CGI are only one part of the formula.

If you want your adaptation to work, then surely one of the main focuses must be on the casting, and with that in mind, we have been taking a look at some of the choices made for the show.

If you are a fan, then drop anchor for two minutes as we answer the question: Who plays Koby in Netflix’s One Piece live-action series?

Koby is a Marine Captain in the show and trained under Vice Admiral Garp. Koby becomes an integral member of Luffy’s crew and is one of the first people that he meets in his quest to become the Pirate King.

Trans actor Morgan Davies plays Koby in Netflix’s One Piece. The Australian actor made his acting debut in 2010 and has appeared in numerous shows and movies.

Morgan made his first appearance and received great reviews at only seven years of age, opposite Charlotte Gainsbourg in the Australian, French feature co-production The Tree, directed by Julie Bertuccelli.

What is Morgan Davies known for?

By 2014, Morgan had landed a role in the TV mini-series Devil’s Playground. This would lead to various short-form films, until another major role in 2017’s The Girlfriend Experience.

There would be a part in the 2019 film Storm Boy, then another run in a popular TV series, The End.

In 2022, an opportunity arrived to play a role in the mind-bending Blaze before being cast in the horrific theatrically released cult franchise entry Evil Dead Rise.

This highly anticipated role would bring Morgan to the attention of a whole new audience in what is possibly their highest-profile role to date.
