Michelle Wolf went from working at JP Morgan Chase to working as a writer on Late Night shows with Seth Meyers and Trevor Noah. Her career catapulted after Wolf was the featured entertainer at the White House Correspondents Dinner. Wolf returns to Netflix for her second comedy special, Michelle Wolf: It’s Great to Be Here.

Michelle Wolf: It’s Great to Be Here sees Wolf tells jokes about the world of dating, race relations, and living in a new country.
The special begins with Wolf talking about how she’s been living in Barcelona and how everyone goes to the beach naked. Wolf talks about the amount of p***s she has seen due to going to the beaches, but she delivers a brilliantly written joke about fake breasts/transphobia, which had audiences dying of laughter. It was one of the best opening jokes of a special this year.

Wolf put the special on her back by producing, editing, and financing the special, which she shot at two comedy clubs. One of the unique things that Wolf did with It’s Great to Be Here is to break it into three separate episodes. At first, I was hesitant about the idea, but after watching the special I think more comedians should try this approach.
Wolf’s delivery is quite simplistic but effective because of how she delivers that punch line. She’s a storyteller, and her writing shows how incredible she is at it. When you watch her perform, you can see the punch line coming, but it still lands with precision.

I’ve talked about this in my reviews of stand-up comedy specials in 2023, and we are starting to see comedians return to telling whatever jokes they want on stage. As comedians find themselves less and less concerned with “cancel culture,” we get better specials as a result. Wolf rides some lines that might outrage some, but simply don’t watch it if that’s the case for you.
Is Michelle Wolf: It’s Great to Be Here good or bad?
Michelle Wolf carefully crafts a fantastic three-episode special that packs a punch. Wolf’s unapologetic writing puts everyone on notice with each of her punchlines.
Not only is It’s Great to Be Here a brisk to watch, but it’s also easily Wolf’s best work to date on the stage.
