The wild and twisted ride of The Other Black Girl comes to a head in the Season 1 finale. Hazel is trying to figure out what is happening, but after a ghost from the past saves her life, she might have to head on the run instead.
The Other Black Girl Season 1 Episode 10 Recap
The episode begins with Hazel unmasking Nella, who isn’t thrilled to be tied up. Diana arrives to explain to her that Jesse Watson has a book coming out, and she will be standing next to him as he releases it. She explains that they’ve put forward the motion that Nella and Diana will have Wagner at their disposal.
Who rescues Nella from Diana?
Nella tells Diana off, leading to Diana ordering Hazel to make her eat the stuff. However, as Hazel is about to feed it to her, Kendra Rae Phillips (who was thought to be dead) tases Diana and her crew allowing her to escape with Nella.
Kendra explains to Nella that she will have to go on the run. However, she heads to visit Malaika in the hospital. Nella explains to Malaika that she is going to go on the run, but Malaika tells her that she can’t do that. Vera arrives to bring some food and sparks an idea in Nella to get the book stopped.
How will Nella stop Jesse’s book from being published?
After talking to Vera, Nella comes up with the idea of leaking the book before Diana and Richard are able to do their PR spin, and without Jesse’s endorsement, his followers will alienate him and tank the book.
At the office, Nella is able to snoop around, but she cuts her hand and has to go to the bathroom to clean it up. When she is washing off her hands, Hazel finds Nella and confronts her about why Diana is good for them.

The following morning, Nella returns to Wagner Books, which shocks everyone. She announced that Diana and Richard got her to come back, and she believes in Jesse’s book and is ready to promote it. Richard cheers to everyone and announces that Nella is the new Senior Editor.
After the meeting, Hazel comes in to talk to Nella about her joining the team. She asked if she wanted to go to lunch, but Nella said she was super busy with other stuff.
The Other Black Girl Season 1 Ending Explained
We see Jesse getting into a car, and when he turns around, he sees Malaika and asks why she is in the car. We see her reach for a taser gun and tase him, and the camera pans to the front, where Kendra Rae is in the driver’s seat.
The season ends with Nella making a call and saying, “I’m in. Let’s burn it down.”
