For All Mankind was one of the very first shows to premiere on the relatively new streaming platform Apple TV+, back in November 2019. Since then, the sci-fi series has gone on to huge success and critical acclaim with four outstanding seasons of TV under its belt. The show is one of Apple’s most popular properties, but will the streaming service be eager to renew For All Mankind for Season 5? There’s no official confirmation yet, but let’s explore the renewal possibilities of Season 5 in more detail.

For All Mankind Season 5 Renewal Status

Official Renewal Status: TBC

Apple TV+ is yet to announce whether For All Mankind has been renewed for a fifth season or if the show will be canceled after four seasons on the streaming platform. The show remains one of Apple’s most beloved and critically acclaimed series, so it seems almost inevitable that there will be a fifth season to come. It is only a matter of time before Apple makes the announcement.

The only surprise is that they haven’t made the announcement already. In 2022, the show was renewed for a fourth season whilst the third season was still being aired. Apple TV+ made this public knowledge in July 2022 and the third season concluded in August of that year. The delayed renewal update this year might be related to the 2023 industry strikes though, which have deeply affected the schedules for most film and TV production companies.

How has For All Mankind Season 4 performed?

For All Mankind has performed well critically over the years. All four seasons have received fresh Rotten Tomatoes scores. The fourth season currently holds a certified fresh score of 100% on the site from over 20 reviews. This positive result is mirrored in the audience score as well, which is at a respectable 86%, whilst on IMDb the show holds a rating of 8.1 out of 10 overall.

Critics continue to praise the show’s visuals and scriptwriting capability, singling out the direction the alternate history has taken over the seasons. The audience is there for the show too. The series is currently in fourth place on the Apple TV+ charts, just behind Slow Horses, Ted Lasso, and Monarch: Legacy of Monsters.

What is Season 4 of For All Mankind about?

The fourth season of For All Mankind focuses on the development of a thriving civilization on Mars. The Red Planet is now home to a much larger, united colony. They hope to extract precious metals from a nearby asteroid, which will then in turn aid in the preservation of this new society.

The new asteroid brings about a chance for the nations to work together, to turn Mars into a utopian society, but it actually ends up dividing the people of Mars instead. There are tensions between the nations up on Mars and with the class system at Happy Valley too. Pay disputes and the dangers of the job turn the astronauts and the Helios workers against one another.

The fourth season introduces a few new characters to the ensemble. Toby Kebbell (Servant) plays determined Helios worker Miles Dale. There’s also the introduction of Daniel Stern (Home Alone) as Eli Hobson, the new administrator of NASA. Tyner Rushing plays space worker Samantha Massey and Svetlana Efremova plays Irina Morozova, a high-ranking Soviet official.

Will Apple TV+ be renewing For All Mankind for Season 5?

It seems highly likely that Apple will be renewing For All Mankind for a fifth season. The show remains one of Apple’s greatest original series to date. It is equally popular with both fans and critics alike, ranking consistently high in the TV charts. Even the writers of the series have expressed their desires to continue, with seven seasons already planned out.

It seems like a no-brainer that Apple will soon be making a renewal announcement. I would be very surprised if the show was canceled whilst still in its prime. As always though, we will keep you posted on any updates in the pending renewal of For All Mankind.
