Summary
Mac’s tragic backstory and the scene where she runs from her stepmom hit hard. As a result, Mac proves to be the strongest character out of the paper girls. At the same time, Adult Tiffany proves to steal the show once again.

Paper Girls season 1, episode 7 recap
Younger Tiffany watches a recording of her class of 1994 graduation. So, as a result, Older Tiffany takes her younger self out and tries to educate her on the realities of life before dropping the bombshell that they’re adopted. Elsewhere, Mac goes to her grave, where her stepmom, Alice, pays her respects, a fact that Erin finds very strange. In his quest to find Tiffany, Larry finds Erin and learns about the brutal manner in which he will die.
Mac questions why her stepmom would bring flowers as she didn’t even pay attention to herself or Dylan growing up. As they leave the graveyard, her stepmom nearly runs them over. She recognizes Mac and drives after her and KJ. But she fails to catch up with them, and Mac hides behind a gravestone as her stepmom sobs.
Younger Tiffany tells her Older Self that she hates her for telling her that she’s adopted. And even a Whitney Houston classic can’t get the mood up. When Younger Tiffany starts to berate Older Tiffany for failing in life, Older Tiffany reveals that she was expelled from school. Russ, Tiffany’s boyfriend, tells both Tiffanys that Erin left with Larry.
The ending
Another folding begins to happen as Erin works with Larry and the girl from the red pickup truck. Mac tells KJ that she finds it surprising that Alice mourns her and questions whether people have a better opinion of her than she thinks. Believing that Erin may be in trouble around the corner, KJ, Mac, and both Tiffany go to help her. Once they find her at the barn, they find all different items as the sky turns purple again. As they’re not sure if they should touch it, Mac throws a newspaper, which seemingly gets destroyed on impact.
Larry’s Mom calls for Larry, and she claims there’s a wild cat in the house. But it’s not a cat; it’s an XK11 Reproud Pro, which, as it happens, sends a signal to the Old Watch. So now, they must run. With this being the second to last episode of the first season, it’s likely that there’s even more trouble around the corner. And if that’s the case, I couldn’t be happier.
With just one more episode to go, what do you think will happen in the season finale of Paper Girls? Will they make it home safe and sound, or are they in for another round of robotic wars and disaster? Somehow, I can’t see Paper Girls tying up all the loose ends just yet.
