After 12 members of the Wild Boar football team and their junior coach get trapped in a cave in Thailand, Governor Narongsak becomes involved in the case as he tries to ensure they are all brought out safely. But who is he, and what does he do in the mini-series?
Thai Cave Rescue – who is Governor Narongsak?
Although not hugely known before the incident within the cave, the governor became a household name when news of the Wild Boars went global. In Thai Cave Rescue, he remains a calm, respectful, and collected person as the rescue mission gets underway. Even when the situation looks dire, the governor does his best to stay strong and focused.
What does Governor Narongsak do in Thai Cave Rescue season 1?
After the Wild Boars are stuck within the cave, Governor Narongsak learns of the tragic story and travels to the scene. From the site, he speaks with a number of officials and experts to try and create a plan that will ensure the highest chance of survival is secured.
As a man of science rather than faith, he initially finds it uncomfortable to pray for the boy’s safe return. However, likely to put the parents at ease, the governor decides to pray. As seen in the final few episodes, he remains hands-on during the development of the rescue mission. And when one of the divers, Saman, dies, it is Narongsak who motivates the rescuers to continue with the rescue mission.
In the end, Governor Narongsak is happy as the Wild Boars, and their junior coach comes out of the cave one by one. But when the final boy, Mark, gets lifted out, there’s a landslide. Governor Narongsak fears that the boy may have died, clearly seen by the look he gives to Mark’s Mother, Namhom. But thankfully, Mark is ok, and Governor Narongsak celebrates the happy result of a mission impossible.
