We discuss the Prime Video series The English, including the release date, time, plot synopsis, cast, and trailer.

Emily Blunt is coming to TV! The Edge of Tomorrow and Sicario actress will be starring in her first TV leading role in the upcoming Prime Video series The English, which was shown to audiences for the first time last month during the BFI London Film Festival. If you are interested in the show and would like to know more about it, you are in the right place! Here’s everything we know so far about the series.

Prime Video Series The English premise

Here is the official synopsis:

“The English is an epic chase Western, from award-winning writer and director Hugo Blick. The series takes the core themes of identity and revenge to tell a uniquely compelling parable on race, power, and love. An aristocratic Englishwoman, Lady Cornelia Locke (Emily Blunt), and a Pawnee ex-cavalry scout, Eli Whipp (Chaske Spencer), come together in 1890 middle America to cross a violent landscape built on dreams and blood. Both of them have a clear sense of their destiny, but neither is aware that it is rooted in a shared past. They must face increasingly terrifying obstacles that will test them to their limits, physically and psychologically. But as each obstacle is overcome, it draws them closer to their ultimate destination—the new town of Hoxem, Wyoming. It is here, after an investigation by the local sheriff Robert Marshall (Stephen Rea) and young widow Martha Myers (Valerie Pachner) into a series of bizarre and macabre unsolved murders, that the full extent of their intertwined history will be truly understood, and they will come face-to-face with the future they must live.”

Our opinion of the premise

The biggest draw for me is Emily Blunt if I’m being honest. The period piece factor is a bit of a turn-off, though this looks like no Pride and Prejudice or Mary Queen of Scotts. And who doesn’t love good revenge Western? The initial reactions coming out of the London Film Festival were also promising, so I’ll definitely be tuning in when it comes out.

The series will be released on Prime Video on November 11, 2022. It will be six episodes long.

I just finished power watching the entire first series. Personally, I loved it.

I loved it. It has a Tarantino flavor in that there is great story telling and dialogue, which includes humor within the violence. The entire cast is fantastic, but I think Emily Blunt has pulled off my favorite character of hers, ever. A great series, right up my alley.
