Dragon Age: Absolution is a Netflix anime based on a popular video game franchise, with the streamer has already found great success with Castlevania, Tekken: Bloodline, and most recently Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. While the show is pretty good, it also very much feels like part one of possibly several, so fans will no doubt be wondering about the potential Season 2 for Dragon Age on Netflix, which has not been confirmed so far.
Based on the popular world created by famed – though now somewhat disgraced – studio BioWare, the six-part series is a fantasy adventure depicting an earlier-than-usual period of the lore, with the Tevinter Imperium at the height of its powers.
Will there be a Dragon Age: Absolution season 2?
At the time of writing Netflix hasn’t revealed their long-term plans for Dragon Age, but I think there’s every reason to be confident. Despite the recent-ish news that there won’t be a second season of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, that decision seems to have been made by CD Projekt Red, not Netflix. A better case study would probably be Castlevania, which ran for four seasons and ended up telling a grand and most importantly complete story.
There’s a fourth Dragon Age game currently in production, and if that’s a success, there will be plenty of buzz around the IP. That gives everyone a vested interest in introducing more fans to the world through the Netflix series. Fans of both anime and the franchise are likely to gravitate to this series, especially with Netflix’s recent run of good form in the game-to-TV adaptation space, and the ending of the first season is totally open, ready for a continuation.
We think it’s very likely that Dragon Age: Absolution will be renewed for season 2.
