When we learned that the Korean Drama industry was producing a remake of the highly popular Money Heist, it felt like a no-brainer. Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area season 1, part 1 arrived, and it had the high-level production value we expected and a well-balanced, highly-charged, chemistry-filled cast.
The only major negative attached to the K-Drama series is that it was almost an exact replica of the original. The same twists, scenarios, and characters (though some were renamed). And while there were some deviations celebrated, it felt like we were watching the same story all over again. The only difference is that it focused on Korean politics and an altered future where North and South Korea merged economically.
On December 9th, 2022, Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area season 1, part 2 arrived on Netflix, concluding the current heist and giving audiences a satisfying production.
How many parts does Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area have?
So far, Netflix has only released two parts of Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area, essentially season 1.
The Spanish Money Heist split each season up into two parts, so if we were going to get a part 3 of the Korean Money Heist, this would be the start of season 2.
At this moment in time, there has not been any confirmation of how many parts Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area will have.
Will there be a part 3 of Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area?
At this moment in time, Netflix has not confirmed whether or not this Korean Drama will be renewed for part 3. There has also been no official word outside of Netflix on the intentions of further seasons. Season 1 has performed well; however, if the series were to be renewed, would the story follow the same trajectory as the original Money Heist? This would not seem like a wise decision from a storytelling perspective, as it would remove all elements of surprise.
What would be the premise of Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area part 3?
Ideally, if Netflix were to continue with this K-Drama, a fresh, original heist would be ideal, where the plot deviates more strongly. The ending of part 2 did bring a noticeable deviation (I will not spoil it), which fans have applauded, but it was not enough to classify the show as the original.
I’d like to think that the writers behind the show would spruce up a different story, so at least many of the fans will be surprised by plot twists.
As for the cast, based on what happened at the end of part 2, it would make sense for many to return, so it will be interesting to see where the cast is with their contracts. Hopefully, no cast changes are not needed.
Has Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area been cancelled?
At this moment in time, there’s no indication that the K-Drama has been cancelled. Like many Netflix shows, the streaming service tends to bide its time analyzing the watch hours before making a major decision on their renewals (might be working keeping eye on the Netflix Top 10 website). It’s certainly frustrating for the fans, but it is clearly a model that works for Netflix.
We will keep you updated.
Please do part 3! Its de best serie ever!! please please please
I’ve never disagreed with an article more. Season 3 would not be a mistake. So many people stopped watching the Spanish series because of how annoying they found the characters were being portrayed. Personally, I also feel safe watching the Korean version with my family since Tokyo isn’t sexualized to a ridiculous level. This will broaden the audience and increase a revenue for Netflix with new fans and fans willing to watch a revamped version of a loved series,
Just finished watching it and I love it!!! ??????awesome work??????totally in looooove with the professor?
Finally done although I have been waiting for some long for the second half. I gotta admit it was fun and interesting with twist end result. I watch both Spanish and Korean versions. They both doesn’t disappoint me. Berlin is my favorite character in both version. I will love to see another season of Korean version.
