Summary

This is a slower installment highlighting Elliot’s steady mental decline. Her jealousy feels realistic, organic, and surprisingly frightening overall. Unfortunately, this detour detracts from the more intriguing elements of the series, with the twins spending less screen time together.

We recap the 2023 Amazon Prime Video series Dead Ringers Season 1 Episode 3, which contains spoilers.

Identical twin sisters Beverly and Elliot (Rachel Weisz) share an unbreakable bond. Yet, the introduction of Genevieve (Britne Oldford) into the equation has certainly tested these inseparable sisters and their unique relationship.

Elliot’s jealousy towards Beverly and Genevieve’s relationship continues to grow and mutate in the latest installment, as the twins launch their new center and celebrate in destructive ways.

Dead Ringers Season 1 Episode 3 Recap

Before the launch of the twins’ new birthing and research center, they throw a party at the facility to celebrate. Here, the investors and workers mingle before the opening day.

Elliot questions Genevieve about her intentions with Beverly, growing more threatened by their relationship with every passing day. Genevieve declares her love for Beverly.

After the party, Elliot tries to persuade Beverly to ditch Genevieve, sensing their growing bond. She asks her sister if she is bored with the actress and offers to find her someone new instead.

Elliot’s jealousy is really intensifying, turning the gynecologist into quite the monster.

Next comes their first official day at the center. Joseph organizes the twins, explaining the schedule for the week. Board members will be observing them for the first few days.

He asks the twins to be respectful and professional throughout.

What happens during their first day at the birthing center?

Board members watch Elliot giving demonstrations in the lab and Beverly aiding women with their births in the birthing center. Elliot discusses plans to delay menopause. A protester infiltrates the facility and pours blood and organs over Beverly.

Beverly is angered by this affront, but Rebecca is growing tired of Beverly’s complaints. She tells the doctor to shut up and get on with her job. Beverly finally has everything she’s ever wanted, but still, she has reservations about the morality of it all.

That night, the twins celebrate their first day. Beverly takes Elliot to Genevieve’s wrap party. Elliot persuades Beverly to swap identities to spice up the night. Surprisingly, Genevieve spots the trick and orders Elliot to stop the twin-swapping escapades.

Why is Beverly unsure about getting pregnant again?

The twins are called in for a late-night delivery. A pregnant woman called Zhu Ye refuses to be touched. The twins help her to deliver the baby on her own.

After the delivery, Beverly returns with her girlfriend to Genevieve’s pad. Her brother Sammy is happy to see her in love for once. Genevieve suggests having a baby with Beverly, but the twin is unsure after many miscarriages.

The next day, Elliot spies Greta packing a bag for Beverly. It’s revealed that Genevieve will surprise her with a weekend getaway. Elliot’s jealousy and paranoia only amplify. She throws all of Beverly’s clothes on the floor, highlighting the start of her slow descent into madness.

Before departing for the weekend, Beverly worries about the separation herself. The twins have never been this far apart before. Genevieve tells Elliot that her relationship with her sister is becoming unhealthy and inappropriate. They need their space.

Elliot begs Beverly not to leave, but the sister goes anyway.

Elliot takes her anger out on Tom and an assistant at the lab. She orders Tom to supply her with some sperm for an experiment involving Beverly’s eggs. Then she goes clubbing.

Elliot invites the guests back to her apartment, where she throws an impromptu house party. She starts to take copious amounts of drugs and acts erratically.

Agnes states that Elliot is only half a person without Beverly. This angers Elliot, and she pushes Agnes off the balcony’s edge, committing murder.

Fearing she’s killed Agnes, Elliot rushes down to the ground floor, but she can’t seem to find a body anywhere. Elliot assumes that she has hallucinated and that Agnes wasn’t ever really there. Elliot finally caves in and calls her sister, desperate to be saved.
