Summary

It wouldn’t be Manifest without a mid-season time jump. Two months have passed for the 828-ers, and there’s only one month left until the death date.

Here is our recap of the Netflix series Manifest Season 4 Episode 17, “Threshold,” which contains spoilers.

It wouldn’t be Manifest without a mid-season time jump. Eight months have passed for the 828-ers, and the death date is only a month away. Ben (Josh Dallas) has been leading the passengers from inside the locked-in detention center, but supplies are running low, and a power surge puts some passengers’ lives in danger.

Manifest Season 4 Episode 17 Recap

“Threshold” starts with a very pregnant Drea, who bought a house in a less-than-savory neighborhood. She’s quit her job at the NYPD and is breaking through the walls of her home, but it’s unclear what she’s looking for.

At the D.C., Ben has been running things and keeping the group together for the past few months. However, their rations are running low, and stretching them for another month until the Death Day is turning into a challenge.

It seems Mick, Jared, Cal, and Vance have spent the past few months inside Tarik’s old cabin solving as many Callings as possible. Cal is beyond exhausted, while Mick is forced to hide inside to avoid being recognized.

The most recent Calling the team has to solve belongs to Autumn Cox (Shirley Rumierk), the passenger who served as a spy for the Major and is now hiding at the safe house with Angelina and Eagan

Where is Angelina and her cult?

The Calling leads Jared and Cal to Beverly’s old home, aka the house where Mick, Zeke, and the Stones used to live. It seems Angelina and the other fugitive passengers turned it into their new safe house, and, of course, the Manic Pixie Murder Girl became the group’s new cult leader.

An angry Cal confronts Angelina. He’s not exactly pleased with her using his home as her cult center. Unphased, she spouts nonsense about her being the archangel sent by God to judge the righteous.

While Cal and Angelina are arguing, Jared tries talking to Autumn. She’s uncooperative and seems very scared of the self-proclaimed chosen one. Jared does spot a photo of Autumn with her baby surrounded by the same purple flower vines Cal saw in his Calling.

The detainees face a deadly power cut

Several tremors shake things up at the D.C., causing a power surge. This leaves our passengers in the dark and the catatonic 828-ers who’ve spent the past couple of years on life support. Without electricity, they’ll die.

Luckily, Joe finds a small generator and keeps the power running for the medical area. However, it will only last a few short hours, and two of the ALNI catatonic passengers have already died.

Olive comes up with the idea of trying to make contact with the outside world, hoping some 828 sympathizers could help them.

Why was Drea breaking through walls?

It’s all connected. The building Drea owns is a former daycare that happens to be next door to the detention center. Cal and Jared arrive just in time to rescue her from a would-be robber.

Jared learns he’s about to be a dad, and we learn that Drea never gave up on helping the passengers. She’s been breaking through the wall trying to get to the people locked inside the D.C. Jared finishes the job, and they all manage to get power back to the detention facility.

Michaela, her dad, and Vance also arrive at the D.C. after figuring out the Calling was leading them to Drea’s property.

As now there’s a way out of the detention center, Ben gives yet another inspirational speech. He reveals Cal’s true identity and, more importantly, offers them a choice; They can leave and try their luck in the outside world, or they can stay and help solve their Callings to hopefully avert the Death Day.

Some people chose to walk away. But many more remain.

Manifest Season 4 Episode 17 Ending Explained

One of the passengers in Angelina’s safe house, Astrid, has decided to leave the cult. So Angelina, like the angel she is, manipulates Autumn into replacing the woman’s anxiety meds with rat poison.

At the D.C., everyone’s enjoying the family reunion, while Jared’s happy with the news of becoming a parent. A conflicted Mick reassures Drea that she is not angry with the new development.

Cal visits his old friend, Marko, at the medical bay. While the young man is talking to the comatose passenger, Marko touches his hand, giving him a Calling of a peacock.

It seems Angelina was right, and God or the Divine Consciousness or whoever is sending the Callings indeed wants the two of them to work together.
