Do They Survive the Death Date in Manifest Season 4 Part 2

Do They Survive the Death Date in Manifest Season 4 Part 2? We explain a key question in the final episodes of Manifest.

The notion of a Death Date was introduced early in Manifest, specifically towards the end of the first season. As soon as the main characters learned their miraculous return had an expiration date, they put as much work as they could into trying to survive past the fateful day.

In the first half of season 4, we learned that the passengers weren’t just fighting for their own lives – the fate of the whole world also depended on them.

At the end of season 4, after the passengers’ long ordeal, the Death Date finally came. Did the 828-ers make it to June 3, 2024?

Manifest Death Date Explained

As the name implies, the Death Date is the day all 828 passengers were meant to die. For them, this date was June 2 2024, precisely five and a half years after the infamous plane’s return, coinciding with the length of time they had been missing.

As the Death Date approaches for someone, they begin to show symptoms of how they were originally meant to die. In Zeke’s case, his body was covered in frostbite because he was meant to expire inside a cave.

In the series finale, Ben, Michaela, Saanvi, and TJ experience the tight chest and difficulty breathing they would have felt dying in a plane crash.

Who else faced their Death Date?

On a smaller scale, the series showed us a couple of times what happens on someone’s Death Date.

In season one, the criminal James Griffin was pulled from underwater after 82 hours and 8 minutes. Like the passengers, he also received Callings but chose to use them for evil. Precisely 82 hours and 8 minutes after remerging, he spontaneously drowned in front of Michaela. There was no water in sight.

In season 2, the three meth heads who had kidnapped Cal came back to life three months after drowning in a frozen lake. While two chose to follow the Callings and try redeeming themselves, one chose to stay evil.

All three meth heads were being judged together, so the actions of one meant the demise of all. However, one person who did survive his Death Date was Zeke because he chose to follow his Callings.

A 16th Century diary belonging to the Al-Zuras showed the group that what happened to Flight 828 also happened to the sailor and his crew. Their ship disappeared for 10 years, and they all returned with Callings and knowledge of an imminent Death Date after being judged together.

It’s unclear whether Al-Zuras and his crew survived their Death Date, but in the passenger’s case, the day also meant the end of the whole world. Through season 4, Callings of volcano eruptions foreshadowed this shocking reveal.

Do they Survive the Death Date in Manifest Season 4 Part 2?

Most of the passengers survive their Death Date and got a second chance at life when the plane lands them back on April 7, 2013, the day Flight 828 was originally meant to land. The passengers who died throughout the season, including Captain Daly and Fiona, also got to walk off the plane.

After Cal sacrificed himself in the penultimate episode, he sent a beacon of light, gathering all the passengers to it. From the fissure, the plane emerged to fly them all to their final judgment.

Not everyone survived. While the returned Flight 828 was up in the air, some passengers started spontaneously combusting.

Adrian got close to imploding but was saved when Eagan offered to sacrifice himself instead. Eventually, both men survived. Saanvi was also very close to turning into dust, but she was spared when Ben started talking about all the good she had done throughout the years.

By surviving the Death Date, the passengers also averted the apocalypse.

For his sacrifice, Cal came back as a 10-year-old boy with no memory of the ordeal he had gone through.

Who did not survive the Death Date?

A total of 11 passengers died for good. The named characters who got dusted were Paul Santino, Randall Barr, Autumn Cox, and, of course, the show’s big bad, Angelina Meyer, who died learning that she wasn’t, in fact, an angel.
