Summary
“Discovery” falls in line with Episode 3, feeling much more like a filler episode that is moving plot points. While the episode isn’t bad, it feels like the audience is just being strung along.

The hunt to prove Lisa Trammel’s innocence is ramping up on The Lincoln Lawyer. The District Attorney throws Mickey (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) a curveball by offering Lisa a plea deal. Uncertain about what to do, Mickey and the team hunt down any hope to help Lisa turn the deal down.

Andrea has buried Mickey and his team with hundreds of boxes to send them on a wild goose chase for what they might have against their client. During the conversation, Lorna says they haven’t talked about what happens if Lisa is guilty. So, Mickey asks her to present her case, and she does. She mentions that she has the motive, the eye witness, and she feels something is off.
What evidence does Izzy find?
Mickey retorts with the shape of the head wound, saying that there aren’t many things shaped like that, maybe a hammer, and they don’t have any evidence that indicates she did it. However, Izzy stands up, showing a picture of tools at her house. Out of over 150 tools, 149 are accounted for, with the hammer being the only missing piece.

Mickey heads to talk to Lisa about the missing hammer and even dig a little into her past to see what prosecutors will try and bring up during the trial. Of course, she mentions that business is down right now, as she is on trial for a murder and is holding a pay-what-you-can dinner for the lower incomes. She hopes he can show up for it.
As a result of a new mandate from her boss to save department time and resources, Andrea offers Mickey a plea deal for Lisa. They will go down to voluntary manslaughter, midterm, and she will spend six years in jail. He brings the plea deal to Lisa and implores her to consider taking the offer because she faces life without parole. Mickey tells her to give him the night, and he’ll see what he can drum up.
Cisco met with the man that corroborated Mitchell Bondurant’s story of him needing a restraining order against Lisa Trammel, and he told Cisco that he not only saw her hit him but had photographic proof and showed him. Everything seems to be piling up in the bad against Lisa.
Does Lisa take the plea deal?
After finding a sketchy email threatening Mitchell Bondurant from Alex, Cisco did some digging and found out that this man had ties to the Armenian crime families. So, he called Lisa to tell her they had found something good, but it was up to her as there were no guarantees, so she decided to turn the plea deal down and fight.

Upon meeting with Andrea to tell her the news they aren’t accepting the deal, she informs Mickey the deal was off the table in the morning. She also mentions that circumstances on the ground have changed. He calls the team to tell them to cancel their plans, as it will be another long night.
