Behind Your Touch Season 1 Episode 5 Recap - How does Ye-boon increase her powers?
3.5

Summary

Another funny episode has a murder, some duelling cases, and enough character development and humour to pad out what is still, on balance, a slightly overlong runtime.

This recap of the Netflix K-Drama Behind Your Touch Season 1 Episode 5 contains spoilers.

Here’s another fine, funny episode of Behind Your Touch, which really is becoming one of those low-key Netflix K-Dramas unfortunately overshadowed by its direct competition. As with King the Land and See You in My 19th Life, a lot of Saturday-Sunday attention is being hogged by The Uncanny Counter Season 2, leaving this amusing, knockabout little show to languish somewhat unappreciated.

The fifth episode is one of those classic introductory ones, a bit torn between full-season serialization and case-of-the-week mystery development. There’s a death, though the identity of the killer remains unknown, and there’s progress in the chemistry between Ye-boon and Jang-yeol, though their relationship is still in progress.

But it also moves through these details with confidence and humor, melting the minutes of the – still overlong, in my opinion – episode capably.

Behind Your Touch Season 1 Episode 5 Recap

To begin with, Sia is dead. The episode opens with the murder.

There are other matters to address in the meantime, though. There’s a little about Ye-boon’s relationship with her grandfather since she finds the donor list in his room and posts it through the door to the assemblyman’s office. When it’s found the next day, the case is closed, which Jang-yeol isn’t thrilled about.

But the bulk of this episode is a quid-pro-quo deal, with Jang-yeol helping Ye-boon out with her case so she’ll help him out with his.

What Jang-yeol and Ye-boon working on?

Jang-yeol is looking for a missing fish finder – imagine Google Maps for offshore fisherman – which Jang-yeol comes to suspect Ali, an Arabic man who worked and stayed on the boat, of having stolen.

Before that, though, Ye-boon wants to discover who buried a god alive – and frankly, that seems the more pressing matter to me too.

How does Ye-boon increase her powers?

As things develop, Ye-boon comes to believe that her powers can be increased by pampering her hand. Thus, Jang-yeol pays for various luxurious activities to supercharge her vision abilities. It seems to work well enough as Ye-boon is able to track the culprit down with help from Jang-yeol and Sun-woo.

Later, Ye-boon touches Ali’s back and gets a vision of him talking to someone in Arabic, which needless to say she doesn’t understand.

Learning a language is a complicated process, and most people never pick up more than one, so it seems a little unreasonable that Jang-yeol expects Ye-boon to learn it. She sets about the task dedicatedly nonetheless, studying and taking classes from Sun-woo, who knows the language, until she’s eventually able to transcribe what Ali was saying in the vision.

As it turns out, his mother is sick.

Behind Your Touch Season 1 Episode 5 Ending Explained

Towards the end of the episode Ye-boon and Jang-yeol visit a secret place Ali frequents and are set upon by gangsters, who throw them in the sea. However, Ali saves them and Jang-seol is able to dispense some justice. Despite apologizing to Dok-hee’s parents, Jang-yeol nonetheless arrests Ali.

The episode closes out with Sia’s rotting corpse washing ashore.
