Elite Season 7 Episode 8 Recap and Ending Explained

Summary

A decent-ish finale delivers some payoff and closure while also leaving the door wide open for the already confirmed Season 8.

Well, folks, we’ve finally made it, and Elite Season 7 has been a particularly aggravating journey. Knowing that the ending of Season 7 is really only a stopgap ahead of the already confirmed Season 8 doesn’t exactly soften the blow, but if you can say anything about Episode 8 it’s that it does kind of feel like an episode of Elite.

The main problem is that all of the drama and characters upon which this finale is built aren’t any good. There’s certainly some resolution and thematic payoff to some of these things, while other bits and bobs are left deliberately unresolved for the benefit of the next season, but it’s still difficult to buy in on a fundamental level.

Anyway, let’s get on with it. The following contains major spoilers, obviously.

Elite Season 7 Episode 8 Recap

Good news! The murder-mystery framing device that has been conspicuously absent from this season of Elite finally makes an appearance here in the finale – sort of, anyway. The episode opens by revealing that someone has committed suicide, which was basically an inevitability at this point, and then gradually reveals the details as we go.

So, who was it?

The first and perhaps likeliest suspect would have been Eric, and in fact, he does toy with the idea of jumping from a building after Nico and his parents kick him out for burning his meds and getting high on coke in Episode 7.

However, the student self-help app finally comes into play in a meaningful way here. Eric contacts Sonia through it, and she’s able to get a message to Nico. He and his parents stop Eric from doing anything drastic and reassure him that they love him and are there for him throughout all of his difficulties.

Who takes down Isa’s father?

There are no deaths in the family feud subplot either, although it’s admittedly a close-run thing.

After finding out that Didac has been working with Luis, Isa herself is approached by the police and informed that both her and Didac’s family have been working with Rocio’s mother. Martin tries to have her killed, but the police are able to intervene thanks to Isa, who was wearing a wire and recorded his confession.

So, everyone remains alive thus far. What gives?

Who dies in the finale?

As it turns out the whole suicide thing is a bit of a ruse. The victim is Raul, but he didn’t kill himself.

I said in an earlier recap that the only logical conclusion for this character was death, so I was happy to see him go. After Raul gets physically abusive with Chloe, Carmen rushes to intervene and ends up pushing Raul off his balcony to his death.

Yes, that’s a murder, but Carmen and Chloe both cover for each other and frame Raul’s death as a suicide. So, that’s the twist. And they’d have gotten away with it too if it wasn’t for those meddling kids neighbors.

Elite Season 7 Ending Explained

At the end of the episode, it’s revealed that Dalmar caught Carmen pushing Raul on camera, though it remains unclear for now what he might do with the information. This will likely form a major component of Season 8.

Do Ivan and Joel end up together?

Since Ivan decides to go on the foreign exchange program and Joel rejects his offer of traveling to South Africa with him as his boyfriend, Ivan and Joel technically don’t end up together. Joel does break things off with Omar officially too, but he’s mostly focused on standing on his own for a while and not being defined by his relationship.
