Prime Video and Freevee will get a huge influx of new content at the start of April 2024, including both licensed and original movies and TV shows, but the big marquee stuff is coming later in the month. The undeniable standout is Fallout, a live-action adaptation of the popular video game series which is looking to make it a hot streak for gaming adaptations after The Last of Us became a critical darling for HBO and Halo massively improved in its second season.

This article will be regularly updated throughout the month to reflect the latest release information.

Highlights of the Month

Fallout (Season 1) | April 11

There is a lot of hype around Fallout, which at a glance seems like it might be one of the most faithful video game adaptations ever. The satirical franchise, which has been popular for years among gamers who have delighted in its post-apocalyptic setting where survivors of a nuclear apocalypse are forced to leave their shelters and emerge into a new and very different world.

The Prime series stars Ella Purnell, Aaron Moten, and Walton Goggins, among others, and has been executive-produced by Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy.

THEM: The Scare | April 25

THEM was a popular Prime Video horror anthology released in 2021, and the three-year wait and change in title might have made it a little fuzzy in peoples’ minds. The second season will take place in Los Angeles, like the first, but in 1991 instead of 1953, and follow LAPD Homicide Detective Dawn Reeve as she investigates the gruesome murder of a foster home mother.

Sleeper Hit of the Month

Alex Rider (Season 3) | April 5

Now streaming on Freevee, Alex Rider has consistently been a victim of substandard marketing, but it’s actually a really good example of teen-skewing action-adventure TV and deserves a much bigger audience.

Based on the book series by Anthony Horowitz, the plot follows a teenage boy who becomes a spy for MI6. This third season will be the last, which is a shame since none of them have been popular, but the previous two are well worth checking out. It’s one of the better book-to-screen adaptations available.
