If you want to build sympathy for anything in film and TV, you make it resemble an animal.

Invasion never does itself any favours, does it? After finally injecting some pace into Season 3 with the reveal that Infinitas were really an alien-worshipping death cult, it pumped the brakes immediately for an explanatory flashback episode nobody wanted.

It’s Episode 11, aka the penultimate instalment of Bon Appetit, Your Majesty, and finally, the K-Drama is starting to act like a show with some pretty significant threads to wrap up that can’t afford to waste three episodes on a cooking contest.

For a while now, I’ve been complaining about Bon Appetit, Your Majesty wasting time on this damn cooking competition.

Peacemaker has spent most of Season 2 in the grip of a holding pattern, one that is very funny and silly in the moment but has largely only achieved reiterating its clutch of underlying character ideas (you’ll notice that there’s no real overarching plot or villain this season).

When you think about it, Invasion has always been an extremely simple story told in the most needlessly complex way possible.

And here I was, complaining about how long it took Bon Appetit, Your Majesty to finally get around to the cooking competition.

I’ll be the first to admit that I thought a cooking competition was a good idea for Bon Appetit, Your Majesty. It might still be. We wouldn’t know, since it still hasn’t happened yet.

The pacing of Peacemaker Season 2 is a little weird, right? Every episode seems like filler, setting up the next key moment, which never seems to arrive when you think it will.

There’s a feeling of getting the gang back together in Episode 4 of Invasion Season 3, which would be ideal if Nikhil weren’t a part of that gang.

As expected, Episode 6 of Bon Appetit, Your Majesty revolves around Ji-young rising up to defend Joseon’s reputation in front of the Ming Dynasty.

Bon Appetit, Your Majesty has been pretty knockabout so far, but the margins have always contained a much more serious show.

The more it goes on, the more it seems like Peacemaker Season 2 is pretty specifically about Chris Smith’s relationship with Emilia Harcourt.

Generally speaking, I don't like Invasion very much. Never have, really. And the first two episodes of Season 3 have largely been really good examples of why.
