The Vox Machina have been quite successful so far in acquiring the many vestiges they need to take on the Chroma Conclave, but their latest prize will have to be pulled from a Goliath’s cold, dead arms. Grog’s uncle Kevdak (voiced by Ralph Ineson) wears a pair of gauntlet vestiges on his fists, and won’t be parted from them for one moment. In “The Killbox”, Grog (voiced by Travis Willingham) battles his uncle for the vestiges, while the rest of the Vox Machina make their way to Whitestone.

The Legend of Vox Machina Season 2 Episode 10 Recap

Vax, Vex, Keyleth, and Percy exit their portal in the dead of night. Percy’s hometown should be there, right in front of them, but it is nowhere to be found. Suddenly, Vax stumbles upon an invisible force field that is protecting the town and they walk through into a bustling, camouflaged city. Whitestone is another dwelling that is hiding from the dragons, now that they’ve taken Emon and Westruun. Meanwhile, Cassandra leads a meeting, as they discuss their plans going forward. Gilmore’s cloaking spell won’t last forever and Lady Allura admits that they can only hold their defenses for so much longer. Something has got to give. Cassandra pleads with the leaders to protect Whitestone for a little longer.

Percy reunites with his sister and the others all reconnect. The Vox Machina have been missing for three weeks now, although to them it felt like just three days in the Fey Realm. They ask where the other members are and Keyleth awkwardly admits to losing them. Lady Allura uses her magical powers to track them down instantaneously, they are hiding out in Westruun. She warns the Vox Machina, Umbrasyl has taken over this city and Grog could be in real danger.

How is Grog defeated?

This seamlessly links us back to Westruun, where Grog challenges his uncle. He wants to restore honor to the herd and accepts a fight to the death with Kevdak. Scanlan, Pike, and Kaylie watch from the sidelines as Grog begins hand-to-hand combat with the Goliath’s leader. Grog is beaten badly in a quick, bloody fight. He’s no match for Kevdak and Pike fears he’ll die. She steps out of the shadows, and Grog’s friends are quickly captured. Kevdak confidently defeats Grog, skewering him onto a large wooden stake. Grog must now watch as Kevdak kills his friends.

Pike is stamped under Kevdak’s foot and this brutal violence triggers a new rage inside Grog, who finally finds his inner strength. His muscles sprout back and he escapes from his restraints immediately. It’s now a fair fight, but then Kevdak uses the gauntlet’s magic to double in size. Kevdak gains the upper hand once again and pummels poor Grog. Bleeding out on the floor, Grog says that his strength comes from his friends. The Vox Machina hides in the shadows above, waiting for the opportune moment to strike. Grog rallies the troops and announces an assembly of the gang. They jump out of the shadows to valiantly save the day.

It’s an invigorating moment, as the team joins the fight. Keyleth transforms into a liger and Vex shows off her new weaponry. All the while, Scanlan sets the tone, blasting a heavy metal song. The Vox Machina battle the half-giants, while Grog takes on his enemy. He slices at Kevdak and manages to dislodge one of his rival’s arms, but Kevdak just holds this loose arm like another weapon and swipes at Grog. Kevdak seems unencumbered by the fatal blow and orders his army to fight back.

How will they defeat Kevdak?

Zanror appears and challenges his father, however, Kevdak easily subdues his son’s feeble attack. Vex frees Trinket from her locket and tries out a new technique, she zaps Grog into her locket instead and hurls him into the air. Grog is unleashed from the locket and swan-dives downwards, wielding his ax. Grog lands a devastating blow that creates a crater in the ground. When the dust settles, Kevdak is seen, sliced in two, defeated once and for all. Grog takes the gauntlets for his own and announces Zanror as the herd’s new leader.

The Legend of Vox Machina Season 2 Episode 10 Ending Explained

What does Kaylie want with Scanlan?

The two armies celebrate with booze and music. Scanlan and Kaylie duet, singing a lively tune. Pike watches the two bonding with envy in her eyes. Keyleth is equally depressed after she plucks up the courage to ask Vax for a dance and he just flat-out turns her down. The ladies drink heavily, while the men make a plan. Zanror and Grog discuss slaying Umbrasyl and Percy offers to fashion a trap. Zanror makes a speech, tomorrow they shall defeat the dragon.

Episode 10 ends in the show’s usual raunchy style. Scanlan takes Kaylie to bed and she starts to tie him up. Scanlan is eager to please, but Kaylie starts talking about her mother, killing the vibe completely. It would appear Kaylie is actually Scanlan’s daughter and she wants revenge after her father abandoned Kaylie’s mother all those years ago. It’s the perfect end, as Scanlan asks, ‘I’m daddy?’
