We discuss whether there will be a Season 2 of the Netflix K-Drama series Divorce Attorney Shin and its renewed or cancelled status.
Built around a charismatic, unique lead, Divorce Attorney Shin is certainly different from a lot of other legal dramas. That is not to say it doesn’t tackle its weighty subject matter without gravity, though, far from it, but having this kind of titular character at the forefront of your show does allow for some humour to be sprinkled in around the genuinely serious stuff.
Mixing in camaraderie, comedy, and engaging side plots featuring the rest of the ensemble, amongst the numerous divorce cases, has proven to be a pretty solid formula too.
For Divorce Attorney Shin might not have made notable waves on any of Netflix’s global rankings, but it’s certainly been popular with domestic audiences.
It’s never peaked below a 4.792% average share of the cable audience and peaked at a respectable 7.520%. This means there is a market for a show of this ilk, even if it might be considered a niche.
Here at Ready Steady Cut, we gave season one of Divorce Attorney Shin a 3.5/5 rating: “Overall, Divorce Attorney Shin is a show full of promise. It deals with its subject matter carefully, breaks the tension with well-executed comic relief, and gives weight to those affected by romantic separation. Driven by a committed lead whose acting helps ensure the character-driven plot points work, this 12-episode K-Drama is a worthy investment.”
Will there be a Season 2 of Divorce Attorney Shin – renewed or cancelled status
So far, there is no news on whether there will be a second instalment of Divorce Attorney Shin or not. This is unsurprising, given it’s still commonplace for K-Dramas to finish after one season, particularly in cable television.
However, as time goes on, there are more and more exceptions to this rule, with shows like Alchemy of Souls, Yumi’s Cells, and Dr. Romantic all getting the chance to have follow-ups to their initial runs.
As a result, it’s difficult to offer a definitive answer on whether Divorce Attorney Shin could return for a second season. After all, the series has had a consistently solid level of domestic viewership. While the global popularity hasn’t precisely been sky-high, this show has plenty of mileage should it wish to further look at the life of Shin Sung-han and those around him.
Despite considering all of this, we’d still bet against Divorce Attorney Shin returning for season two. Sure, the on-screen action has been highly entertaining, the characters investable, and the writing strong, but it seems like this is a show built to end once this overarching revenge story has ended.
Plus, why not end on a high instead of creating new narrative threads that can’t guarantee the same level of engagement?
In conclusion, it seems unlikely Divorce Attorney Shin will be renewed. However, we’ll keep you updated on any developments here at Ready Steady Cut.

I hope there will be a season 2. I truly enjoyed the show. The actors were really great and knew how to pull you in with their acting. The writers have a way of expressing the facts that makes you think.
All in all Well written and directed and played. “Bravo”
Can’t wait to see the second season.
Love the interaction with all the actors. Great chemistry. The show has a lot of promising story lines. It feels like it is unfinished. The first episode was challenging since it was a slow process into the each of the characters storylines. But the journey was well worth the wait, I am now a fan of Kdramas. The American films could learn a lesson on how to make better movies that treat the audience with intelligence and dignity.
I love this series! The cast was amazing. There are so many areas for developing season 2! I hope there will be a season 2!

Best Siri I’ve ever watched. I hope they have several seasons more. I thought the chemistry was excellent between the actors and such interesting, powerful storylines. I enjoyed every episode.
