We discuss whether there will be a Season 2 of the Max series Full Circle and its renewed or canceled status.
Full Circle is a Max original series from director Steven Soderbergh (Ocean’s Eleven) and writer Ed Solomon (Men in Black). The six-part crime thriller follows a botched kidnapping that somehow connects with an intricate saga of corruption, which links New York City and Guyana.
The boy who is kidnapped, Jared, is the grandson of celebrity chef Jeff McCusker (Dennis Quaid), who can’t quite understand why he’s been targeted at all. There is a cryptic link, however, that connects him with the rival crime organization, those that orchestrated this sinister plot in the first place.
Jared’s parents, Derek (Timothy Olyphant) and Sam Browne (Claire Danes) negotiate with the kidnappers, hoping to deliver the ransom money in time, yet the criminals have very specific demands.
The crime organization is fronted by the mysterious Mrs. Mahabir (CCH Pounder), who delegates duties to her number two Garmen (Phaldut Sharma) and her nephew Aked (Jharrel Jerome).
Investigating this kidnapping is Detective Harmony (Zazie Beetz), who tries to uncover the missing link between the wealthy upper-class elite and the criminal underbelly. All these subplots intertwine, working towards an impressive finale.
It’s one of the first new shows from Max since their re-branding, but will the streaming service be quick to renew Full Circle for a second season?
Will there be a Season 2 of the Max series Full Circle – renewed or canceled status
There has been no official word yet on whether Full Circle will be returning for a second season or not. It was billed as a miniseries, which strongly indicates that this is a one-off series that will not be continuing its story moving forward though.
Obviously, shows in the past have started life under the miniseries banner and then gone on to more installments, but this series seems to resolve itself within the six episodes provided. I would be very surprised if Max were to renew this one.
The only way forward I can foresee is if writer, Ed Solomon, decides to continue working within this criminal world he has created, but he explores a different angle or different characters instead. There are many ways the show could continue, but it would seem like this is a good place to conclude things.
Full Circle has already gathered some promising reviews from critics, and with such a strong cast and crew behind it, this could be a small success for Max.
Yes, there are a few negative issues that may put off audiences, mainly the camera work and ambiguous plotting, but on the whole, this is a series that deserves some form of success. And it is exciting to see such great Hollywood talent involved in a smaller production.
However, I’m going to predict that Full Circle will not be renewed for a second season. As always, we will keep you posted on any updates on the pending renewal of Full Circle.
