Netflix‘s trend of splitting up their popular series into two parts continued with the release of The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2. The second season was based on Michael Connelly’s fourth book in The Lincoln Lawyer series, The Fifth Witness. Manuel Garcia-Rulfo returns in the lead role of Mickey Haller, and series regulars Becki Newton, Angus Sampson, and Jazz Raycole are joined by newcomers Lana Parrilla and Yaya DaCosta.

Episode 6 – “Withdrawl”
Mickey is found beaten half to death by Izzy in the parking garage. After the doctors say that Mickey will make a full recovery, Izzy sits down to tell him that she knows who took the contract. It was Ray, and she has since kicked her out of the house. A game of cat and mouse between Mickey’s team and Alex Grant finally gets him out of hiding so they can serve him papers to testify. Grant has to testify, but Mickey is on a short leash with the judge. Maggie agrees to help Mickey get back on his feet, but once they sleep together, she reveals that she is moving to San Diego to take a job at the DA’s office.
Episode 7 – “Cui Bono”
The trial against Lisa Trammel has begun, and the DA has the jury in her pocket with Detective O’Brien on the stand. However, Mickey uses a card up his sleeve after a letter was left on his doorstep that helps him put doubt in the jury’s mind that the Detective might have had tunnel vision regarding the case. As Mickey starts to knock back a few wins in the case, the episode ends with Andrea sharing with the Judge that the hammer, the murder weapon, has been found, and they want to introduce it into evidence.
Episode 8 – “Covenants and Stipulations”
The trial continues with the DA introducing the murder weapon to the jury. With the DA bringing their witnesses to the stand to share why Lisa Trammel is guilty, Mickey uses his great ability in the courtroom to shift things back in his favor. As things start to turn more and more in Mickey’s favor, the prosecution brings one last witness to the stand — Henry Dahl. As a result, Mickey pulls the trigger on something he doesn’t want to, putting Lisa Trammel on the stand.
Episode 9 – “The Fifth Witness”
Mickey’s plan to put Lisa on the stand works in his favor until the district attorney cross-examines her leading to Lisa snapping on the stand. As a result, Mickey uses Alex Grant to put serious doubt in the jury’s mind by trying to tie him to the murders. The plan backfires in his face, and as the day is almost over, the DA goes in for closing arguments. A restaurant worker drops off food at Mickey’s office, which leads to a break in the case.
Episode 10 – “Bury Your Past”
After Mickey delivers his closing arguments, the jury returns with a quick verdict. Mickey went toe-to-toe with the LA district attorney and won again with the jury coming back with a Not Guilty verdict. However, Mickey feels like something is off leading to him investigating and confronting Lisa about her ex-husband. With things quickly winding down, a new client requests Mickey’s counsel, and we get a shocking end of the season with a surprise death.
