We discuss whether there will be a season 3 of the Apple TV+ series Acapulco and its renewed or cancelled status.
It’s tough for a series to capture the magic of the first season of the series and supersede it. However, what creators Eduardo Cisneros and Jason Shuman were able to do with Acapulco season 2 was genuinely magical. Here is a little bit of what went down in season 2.
We saw the evolution of present-day Maximo (Enrique Arrizon), telling the story of his teenage years to Hugo (Raphael Alejandro). Next, we navigated through his relationship issues with Julia (Camila Perez) and Isabel (Gabriela Milla), how he was dating one but in love with another. We knew that the “we aren’t going to talk about the kiss” would come back and haunt both Julia and Maximo because Isabel knew what we knew, that these two were in love with each other. Then we finally saw him face the person he was terrified of in the present day (I won’t spoil this part).
Maximo and Memo had some highs and lows throughout the season, with Memo almost getting fired because he almost took the fall for Maximo working with the paparazzi. However, we all knew these two couldn’t stay apart for long. After discovering that Maximo paid Hector half of his tips to hire him as a pool boy, Memo knew he couldn’t stay mad at Maximo forever. I love these two so much.
Another thing we got to witness was the development of some supporting characters. How Don Pablo stood up to Diane and quit the resort, only for her to realize how wrong she was about how he treated him and ask him to return. We also saw Nora find out about her daughter Sara’s relationship with Roberta causing her to kick her out of the house. The entire season Nora struggled with her daughter being gay, leading to a monumental moment that led to them reuniting.
The strong writing of the series is why it is as good as it is, but the cast and crew also do a great job of bringing the series to life. One thing that doesn’t get enough credit is the series production. Everything has that resort feeling that reels you into the world. The big question is, will we see the return of our favorite cast and crew (and our favorite singing duo) with a third season?
Will there be a season 3 of the Apple TV+ series Acapulco – renewed or cancelled status
Update on February 5th, 2023
Apple TV+ have confirmed that there will be a season 3 of Acapulco. Fans will be pleased that the third season has been greenlit.
Update on December 8th, 2022.
Apple has not yet confirmed whether there will be a season 3 of Acapulco.
As of right now, there is nothing about the status of getting a season 3 of Acapulco. After a widely successful season one which saw a 100% Rotten Tomatoes score by critics and an 87% Audience score, Apple TV+ quickly picked up the series for a second season. Currently, there are only two reviews for season 2 of the series by critics; both are fresh, and the audience score sits at 94%.
If I were a betting man (I am), a season 3 announcement would be coming soon. With the critics and audiences loving the series and the incredibly diverse cast, and with more stories to tell within this world, they would be crazy not to make it happen. So let’s cross our fingers and hope we can share the big news with you soon.
Acapulco Season 3 Release Date
Apple TV+ has not confirmed yet when Acapulco Season 3 will be released, however, we expect the first episode to stream at the end of 2023.
