The Lincoln Lawyer Season 2 Episode 1 Recap
The episode begins with us seeing Mickey getting the royal treatment now that he is somewhat of a celebrity as a lawyer after his successful case with Trevor Elliott. From photo shoots to interviews to the front cover of magazines, Mickey is the talk of the town.
He heads to meet a new client, Russell Lawson, who was arrested for felony burglary.
Who is in charge of reopening the case of Jesus Menendez?
Detective Griggs approaches Mickey to talk to him about how he humiliated the department and the DA’s office with how he got Jesus released. However, he says they are formally reopening the case and need fresh eyes, and Griggs tells him that he is in charge of it.
He wants Mickey to bring Jesus to talk to him.
What new evidence does Detective Griggs find against Jesus Menendez?
During Griggs’s questioning of Jesus, he brings up a knife used to kill the victim. He asked Jesus if he had ever owned a knife like that, and he said no. Griggs said that he spoke to his roommate at the time, Luis Casillo, who said that Jesus owned one of those knives and threw it into the L.A. River after he did it.
Micky and Maggie are out for dinner discussing life and their daughter. Maggie is pissed about how her career was flipped upside down over the Jesus Menendez case. With the DA reopening the case, it might be for nothing.
Maggie leaves the dinner after the chef sends their entire menu to the table for free because it’s the “world famous” Mickey Heller. Lisa, the chef, comes out to talk to Mickey, leading to the two ending up in bed together.
The following day, Lisa shows up to ask him about a local developer, Mitchell Bondurant, who is putting up buildings everywhere and had her served with a restraining order due to her going on the news to protest against his local developments. Mickey agrees to help her with the case.
What happens in the Russell Lawson case?
After Cisco gets pictures of Russell’s house and the house he allegedly broke into, Mickey realizes they look exactly the same. As a result, before the judge hears the case, Mickey talks to the prosecutor to work out a plea deal. After showing the photos and mentioning how he might push that Russell was possibly drugged at the bar that night, she agrees to time served and him paying for the widow.
