Life & Beth hasn’t yet been renewed for Season 3 by Hulu, but after a well-received Season 2, Amy Schumer’s semi-autobiographical dramedy may well return sooner rather than later.

Amy Schumer plays the title character, struggling with a series of dramas centered around her relationships and past failings. The show is based loosely on real experiences from Amy herself.

Has Life & Beth been renewed for Season 3?

At the time of writing (February 17, 2024) there has been no official confirmation of a third season. Up to press, Life & Beth has not been renewed for Season 3.

After Season 1 premiered on March 18th, 2022, it took a month before the news of the second season was released, so it may be a case that the powers that be at Hulu are waiting to get all the information in about the performance of the show before investing in a third set of episodes. The best bet is to let Hulu know if you are a fan, and hope for the best.

How have critics and audiences reacted to Season 2?

We gave the latest season of Life & Beth four out of five stars, saying it was a “triumph”, and we were not the only outlet to enjoy the series. Decider also encourages you to watch the show and they like the fact that “Amy Schumer is continuing to dive deep into her psyche, with her comedy reflecting how she’s had to become a grownup over the past seven or so years.”

Elsewhere though, The Daily Beast found the show “uneven” and AV Club was a little unimpressed saying, “Hulu’s dramedy about parenting and relationships often feels like two series stitched together.”

Fans on X, formerly Twitter, seem to have been enjoying the season too. Raven Brunner said:

#LifeandBeth is back with its sophomore season that’s even better than the first. I cried, I laughed, & I clutched my little heart. Beth and John have a sweeping romance for the ages. The intimate look into John’s psyche was beautiful. Didn’t think I could love Michael Cera more.

Kimberly Roots, the managing editor of TVLine, was also positive:

What has Amy Schumer said about the future of Life & Beth?

Obviously, with a project such as this, Amy is on board for more seasons, and the autobiographical nature of the show indicates that she has a personal and vested interest in the material and no doubt hopes that the series will continue.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter Amy would talk about her hopes for the future of the show. Amy was interviewed with co-star Cera and said:

“I want to do a season three and — Michael, I hope this doesn’t make you mad, but I want John to be played by Brad Pitt. Would you support that? I don’t want to make you feel weird,” says Schumer, lobbing the idea over to Cera, who quickly replies, “I mean, have you talked to him?” Schumer doesn’t break: “There’s been some interest. His reps are circling back.”

So there is no doubt that Amy hopes for more seasons of the show, and that is half the battle.
